FAQs about hotels in Milan

A Capital of Design and Style

Renowned as the world’s fashion and design capital, Milan is never short on places to see and things to experience. The stunning architecture of the Duomo di Milano and the famous La Scala theatre are just a few of the city’s breath-taking attractions. For a more intimate adventure, the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie with Leonardo da Vinci's “Last Supper” lets you view a masterpiece from Italy’s past.

Visit the FieraMilano and Salone del Mobile, among the world’s largest and most prestigious furniture and design fairs or have a stroll in the Quadrilatero Della Moda district to admire unique creations from the most famous Italian fashion brands: Gucci, Versace, Armani, Prada or Dolce & Gabbana.

The Navigli and Porta Romana districts are famed for restaurants and bars serving delicious Lombard cuisine and the very popular aperitivo. Make sure you try sweet delicacies at the chic Caffé Cova, founded in 1817, or another historical café, Zucca, in the Galleria.

Arriving at Malpensa or Linate Airports, you’re only a short trip from the city centre, where you can watch a game at the San Siro or enjoy Milan Fashion Week. Whether you’re staying in a chic apartment, design hotel or budget hostel, Booking.com has a perfect accommodation for your Milan holiday.

Loved Lake Como, an hour and 5 minutes from the central station by train. Loved Duomo Cathedral and the surrounding area. The Navigli district is fabulous, lively, vibrant and busy. A bit difficult to find which tram stop you might need but the tubes are quite easy. Found the Italian people quite rude especially the staff at Bergamo airport who were awful, not helpful at all. This could put us off going back to Italy. Most of them were ignorant, always pushing in or walking in front of you but there were a couple who were pleasant and helpful.

Main thing – plan your trip in advance, book entrance tickets several months ahead, as many attractions are completely sold out weeks in advance. Must-see places: Milan Cathedral, the Santa Maria delle Grazie convent where you can view Da Vinci’s wall painting (the next 2–3 months are sold out), the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, and attend an opera or ballet at Teatro Alla Scala. If You are coughing up dollars, shop at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, but if not, at least take a look.

We enjoyed staying just outside of the centre on the canal.

We enjoyed staying just outside of the centre on the canal. The Duomo is a must visit. We used the tram and the metro both are easy methods of transport to get around on. We ran out of time to go round the castle but saw it from the outside and will do that next time. the Galleria is great for shops and the walk from there to the Castle there are also lots of other shops.

Amazing city filled with arts and crafts, nice people, good-looking cars, and lots of things to do. Historical landmarks are worth seeing, as well as taking a cooking class and just strolling through some parks. Superb public transport system - you can choose between underground, tram, buses, and trains for smaller cities around Milan. One of my favourite cities so far.

Milan is such a stylish city!

Milan is such a stylish city! I’ve never seen so many beautiful clothes, fabrics, and accessories in my life (though the prices can be quite high!). Still, I really enjoyed the city - it felt calm, with not too many cars or tourists when we visited in late October. Maybe that’s because there aren’t too many typical sightseeing spots, but the main attractions here are definitely shopping and gastronomy. People are incredibly fashionable, friendly, and speak good English. I’m already planning to come back!

The historical and spiritual sites were wonderful!

The historical and spiritual sites were wonderful! The Sforza Castle self guided tour was wonderful and well organised and easy to find. The hop on hop off bus in the city was great- I stayed on and did that tour twice in a row. The Duomo tour and rooftop walk was an absolute highlight and I never thought I would do that- I booked it only the night before- that was a truly incredible experience! I went to a local supermarket and ate some beautiful cheeses, bread and olives with red wine for dinner because I had eaten well whilst out all day. The last nights stay I found a local gorgeous restaurant and ordered a stunning ragu beef pasta to take back to my B&B. The staff there were so friendly even though we didn't speak the same language!

Small Hotel close to the city centre. Just 400 Mts from Piazza del Duomo. Rooms were fine for two persons, in a modern, clean style. Staff was really nice and chose for us a beautiful room with a nice view of the inner courtyard. It was really confortable for a quick visit to Milan downtown, do some shopping and visit Breda Gallery.

It’s an absolutely stunning apartment with quirky/industrial designs. Such a beautiful and comfortable place to stay! Close to some lovely restaurants and bars. The best aircon we had in Italy! You can walk to the city centre in roughly 20-30 minutes which I was happy to stay a little bit further out.

It's a great hotel for a city break, for sleeping and bfast purposes. Easy to travel around Milan by metro, everywhere, so the fact that the hotel location is a bit far from the city centre didn't affect our journey.
