Enjoyed the quaint garden path along the river on the property. There were many baths (with great water quality), some of which are private, but with no extra charge. The outdoor pools were heavenly, one of which was by the riverside and a waterfall view. The room was clean and huge with two very comfortable twin beds and a balcony. The Japanese-style breakfast was great, although if one wants a western style, it may be a problem. The service was impeccable. You couldn’t ask for more pleasant and helpful staff.

* excellent location, in a quiet part of the onsen town between a lot of trees
* open-air baths were very spacious and opened up to a small river
* indoor bath was easy to use
* kaiseki menus were quite delicious even for western tastes
* we liked the indoor decorations of the room and the tatami area was convenient, it didn’t extend to the whole room

We like the accommodation, the private onsen facilities, the location, the food, the shuttle service from and to the express bus stops, and of course most importantly the staff of the Ryokan.
The Kaiseki dinner was served in our room and the Ryokan had accommodated our dietary request. Special shout out to 陈婷, the staff handling our dinner, bedding arrangement and breakfast. We felt so relaxed and welcomed. Thank you for making our trip such a wonderful one and our Ryokan onsen experience a memorable one.

Yamabiko Ryokan is genuinely one of the very best i've been to. They have many in-house private onsen which is lockable) to give more privacy which is a bonus. Their public onsen is just amazingly relaxing and scenic.
To top it off, both lunch & dinner are absolutely delicious with impeccable service.
Truly a memorable and unforgettable experience, as an ryokan should be.

Great indoor and outdoor onsen options.
Two styles of dinner (Kaiseki and BBQ); both great.
