This place has a soul. It was a pleasure to just be there and relax. It has very nice surroundings.
Renovated in 2016, the beautiful, chalet-like Active Life Madarao offers ski-to-door access from Madarao Kogen Ski Resort, a 3-minute walk away.

The property has an amazing location.
Spacious rooms, friendly staff, and beautiful onsen. It feels homely.
Lisa and her husband are the most incredible humans who makes you feel like home. Also the hardest worker i’ve ever met. She is on top of everything.

We arrived not knowing what to expect really, but Nathan and Akiko were so welcoming and really good fun. As was Nick, their handyman. The dining room / living area was a place you wanted to be in, so we ended up spending more time there chatting with Nathan, Akiko and Nick (as well as the other guests) rather than heading out into the town.
Akikos food was amazing and good value too, so there was no need to go anywhere else either.
Nathan made extra effort to take us to the resorts, and also picking us up if he was able to.
Nick and Akiko joined us on the slopes too on occasion.
Also, being someone a little over 6ft, the beds were plenty bong enough and were really comfy.
After travelling for 4 months, this was comfortably our favourite stay and wish we could have stayed longer.

Staying at White Tree Lodge felt like visiting family Hayden and Saki are great hosts who do everything to help and make your stay enjoyable, room and lodge facilities comfortable, great location close to ski lifts and other restaurants in the village, and the home cooked Japanese food in the white tree restaurant was delicious with a great variety on menu. I have been skiing in Japan for 15 years and white tree is a definite standout and would highly recommended

Everything! We travelled as two adults with our 18month old. The view is incredible, we were lucky to have a snow day on day of departure. A lot of thought has gone into this home and we loved all the intricate details - making our own drip coffee, using the clay pot to make rice, and fire sauna. The hot tub was an indeed a favourite. The cabin feels like you’re truly staying at a home that’s lived in and you get to experience a little of their life. The photography within the home is amazing.
We spent two nights and remained at the house the entire time, one morning we did go on a small walk on a trail from the house.
We travelled by train from Nagano to kurohime station, and pre arranged a taxi for pick up. We used google translate on arrival to book our taxi for day on departure with no problems.
