We were two tired and hungry pilgrims on the Via Francigena who arrived without food due to another French public holiday in May and a lack of shops in the area. We also had difficulty finding accommodation and Bouconville-Vauclair is not on the designated route. The hostess, Magali, was simply outstanding. She offered to prepare us an evening meal – which was magnificent, and this was followed with a superb breakfast the next morning. The accommodation can more correctly described as a newly constructed self-contained unit with all amenities you require. Magali turned our brief stay into one of the highlights of our entire walk. Location perfect as we needed an overnight stay on our way to the Alps. Easy to access from the main road. Served very good food so we were able to eat dinner without looking for anything else.

We had a fantastic one night stay at the Chateau. Amazing hosting, making us feel right at home! The gardens were just beautiful to have a peaceful stroll around. The best part was the breakfast, all prepared in the grand dining room. Absolutely recommend!

Beautiful totally secluded property contained within a garden courtyard yet within a village setting. Very comfortable, smart, impeccably clean, cool and yet rural! If you want private and unfussy, it is here. Four rooms only so never busy. Parking in oak beam barn is ideal - dry and very secure.
