Five-Star Hotels in Zanzibar City

Excellent food with excellent stuff. The hotel gives you more than they promise. Friendly stuff always helping and guiding. The breakfast was best in my life. Greetings to the chef Lance Louise who is amazing person and talented. Also I would like to thank the owner and Amir who made our stay better than it was. The rooms are clean and well-designed. The hotel design is mesmerizing.

Beautiful place of the highest quality with attention to every detail. It feels like a jungle, full of tropical plants and harmless animals. Fantastic pool and an amazing jetty into the ocean, overlooking the transparent water, low and high tides, and colorful sunsets. Our room was huge and super clean, with everything we could ask for, including a well equipped bathroom. The room was cleaned all the time, towels were replaced and everything we asked for was answered positively. The staff is extremely nice and helpful, and they were very flexible and generous with our check-in and check-out times. The chef made a vegetarian menu specifically for us with delicious food full of thought and good touch. Highly recommended.

Idyllic, serene, luxurious island resort with incredibly friendly staff, from the General Manager, Mr. Serrour and our host, Samuela, all the way down; all of whom went above and beyond to make our stay uniquely personal, memorable, enjoyable and relaxing. Some of the most fantastic Sunsets to enjoy as well. This all truly made it a one-of-a-kind stay and one we'll never forget surpassing all our expectations. Great choice of restaurants and food led by the amazing executive chef - Chef Giovanni, who was kind enough to create some incredible dining experiences for us. The Swahili breakfast is a must try. Also a special mention to Ju and William as well. Sad to leave and definitely hope to visit again sooner rather than later - I couldn't recommend a stay here enough! Reserving a room at Madinat Al Bahr was a smooth process. I proceeded to make a call to enquire about checking in early. A gentleman by the name Sebastian organized to have me picked up from the airport and allowed me to check in early which allowed me to have a much-needed rest after two days of travelling. At the reception I was greeted with warm smiles and the lady at the reception (Happy) checked me in without delays. Issa helped me to my room and showed me the executive room I had booked. The room surpassed all my expectations. It was roomy, light and very clean. The icing on the cake was the direct view of the hotels garden and the blue ocean from my room’s balcony. All the amenities that one might need on a trip away from home are included in the room. My first night at the hotel was very pleasant. I had the delight of meeting Sayed Aly on my way to breakfast the next day - a very charming, chatty gentleman who speaks. I enjoyed chatting with Aly during the meals - we both had a chance to practise the international languages we spoke (German, Russian and a little bit of Italian). I got the impression that Aly takes his time to learn the guests and preferences which really makes a stay at Madinat Al Bahr feel like a second home. The food was another highlight. A wide variety of local and international delicacies. The buffets were amazing. I was more interested in local delicacies which the hotel had enough of. The fruit variety felt like a special treat too. The pool is very clean and big enough. There are nough sun beds around the pool - one needs not worry about finding a spot to chill by the pool. The pool looks even prettier at night! The beach just infront of the hotel was nice too. I had a chance to chit chat with the locals and take some “diving lessons” from the kids swimming around. My stay lacked for nothing. Madinat Al Bahr is truly a gem on this beautiful island.

The location is superb. Nestled in the Stone Town, perched over the ocean. Waves break at your feed. It's looking west so the sunset is phenomenal. It's the best located hotel in all of Zanzibar.

The staff were very polite and could not do enough. The room was spacious, bright and well equipped. The pool was clean and welcoming. Although the garden had not had time to establish, it was well maintained. The evening walk to the Terrance was relaxing with the beautiful sunset.

The room was really cosy with a Modern Boho style. It was cleaned twice a day by the housekeeping staff. It was always maintained clean and fresh. The staff were extremely nice and hospitable. They were always friendly and nice to us. The food was perfect, during dinner there were live entertainment shows that were perfect. The restaurant manager was always checking on us making sure everything is up to order and perfect making our stay memorable.
