Hotel Makanda by the Sea, a luxurious adults-only retreat nestled in the lush tropical paradise of Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. Our hotel offers the perfect blend of serenity and sophistication, designed exclusively for adults seeking a tranquil escape. We enjoyed everything! Staff was great, kind and really helpful. The room, the hotel itself was gorgeous. We saw more animals in the hotel’s surrounding than in Manuel Antonio. Pool area chic and relaxing.

Beautiful private bathrooms come equipped with a rain shower. One of the most unique hotels I’ve ever had the luxury of visiting. The jungle is magical. The facilities are second to none, but it’s really the staff that makes it special. Marco, for example, gave a great port tonging/wine opening show, then etched the bottle for us to have a souvenir. The rest of the staff was equally as accommodating.

You can see some iguanas or monkeys right as you are taking a dip and sipping on a margarita. Last but not least, visiting the Macaw reserve on the proptety it’s a must. To be honest, I found the hike and the reserve itself more authentic, not to mention more private, than famous Manuel Antonio National Park. The sunsets from the viewpoint are unique. All in all, an amazing experience and hope to come back soon.
