Being next to the Odawara Station and the bus terminals, the location facilitated travel, particularly around Hakone. The hotel is rather new and equipped with Onsen facilities. Eateries abound in the hotel building, in front of the hotel, at the station and mall next door and the vicinity. It is very convenient.

The rooms are extremely clean, spacious & comfortable. The shower was spacious & I love the rain bath & shower. Both had strong water pressure. We received very attentive service. Staff responded almost immediately whenever we called. Our location is within walking distance to the Hakone-Yumoto Station. Extremely convenient when sightseeing. There is a 7-11 convenience store close by & a famous Ramen noodle shop a stone's throw from the hotel. Always a queue outside the store. Lot's of food stalls in the vicinity. . Really enjoyed our stay in Hotel Zagakukan.

Lovely place! The room was big, clean and with all the needed amenities. The private outdoor onsen is spacious and lovely. Dinner and breakfast were very good and traditional. Furthermore, the river flowing behind the ryokan offers a lovely view.

We had such a comfortable stay! The staff were super kind and helpful. I love Japanese hot springs and don’t mind sharing, but my partner prefers more privacy, so we booked a room with a private bath. The public bath also allows guests with tattoos, which was great for us since we both have a few fashion tattoos—it felt really open and welcoming. We enjoyed the high-quality hot spring both in the public bath and in our room. They even have historic rooms designated as Important Cultural Properties, and we’d love to try staying in one of those next time!

Boutique luxury hotel in Hakone. I believe there are only 9 rooms in total. Brand new and stunning. The room is fantastic - decent size, bathroom huge, wardrobe, bed comfortable and loved the traditional feel to everything in the room, your own onsen with beautiful wooden surroundings that you fill with water yourself and can hear the large waterfall from the native bush below. Just divine and relaxing. Smart tv that you can watch from the onsen or in bed. Because of the waterfall you needed to have the volume up quite high though. Drinks in fridge were for your enjoyment free of charge. They include drinks and snacks in the restaurant area in the afternoon for your enjoyment. Lovely check in process, with a personal touch and a traditional tea. Bus stop right there at road entrance to the hotel - we used this a few times during our stay. Taxi is best when arriving and leaving with suitcases given the hills. 7 eleven a few hundred metres walk. We didn’t want to leave!

We had booked the private bath room on the 4F and it was amazing! The dinner and breakfast were both exceptional as well. So many unique dishes that we have never tried, even though we have eaten our fair share of japanese food in general. Special highlight also need to be given to the staff as well, as they were extremely nice and helpful!

    - the location, no need an umbrella from JR station - with supermarket, convenience store load of shops at the city center - the common bath is great and using same onsen from hakone - private elevator within the hotel - room size is ok for Japan hotel (they are all small) that I can open my 28" suitcase - high floor and good sunlight
