I liked that the price for a pet was clearly stated in the Booking room choices -- too many hotels say Pet-Friendly and then you find it's 500 or 1,000 pesos extra when you arrive. Staff was friendly. Locked secure parking one block away required staff to accompany me to park and retrieve car, which was fine. Average Mexican breakfast -- choice of huevos al gusto or chiaiqulles, juice and coffee/tea.

Architectural side of it just something I have always loved so this stay was perfect for me. No need for a car everything close and if needed a taxi or Uber will do without it even being a long drive. Highly recommend it if you like this type of architecture but if you prefer more of a modern look this is probably not for you.

El Meson de la Merced offers simply decorated rooms set around an attractive courtyard. All rooms have cable TV and a sofa. A very large and central hotel. We were given a room on the main floor with a door onto the main atrium. We prefer an outside view so they moved us up to the 3rd floor with a wonderful view on a small square. The breakfast is wonderful. When we were the only guests in the restaurant we ordered from a menu. When there were more people they set up a buffet. We especially liked the parakeets that were around corner from our room. Very central location. Free parking.
