If you are coming to Udawalawe for a safari then this is the place to stay. Located very close to the National Park entrance this camp had us feeling like we were one with nature. Our room tent/cabin was ready on arrival. It is not a hotel so you should know going in that this is a camping adventure. Beds were comfy and cam with very good mosquito nets. The bathroom was clean and the water pressure was fine. There is no A/C but you do get a floor fan and the room also has plenty of outlets for charging. You get your own private deck in front of your tent with chairs and a beautiful view of the river. I would suggest allowing them to prepare all of your meals. They were all delicious and came at a fair price considering there is nowhere else to eat within a mile or two. The camp prepares and takes car of everything for you, meals, free river tour, and free night walk after dinner. They also will book your safari for you. Once you arrive, you do nothing. It was absolutely amazing.

This was the best accommodation we stayed in Sri Lanka. Our safari trip was very well organized and it was really great. The hotel is built in a beautiful setting with a river. Everything was perfect.

The staff were fantastic and always ready to help answer any questions including “what bird is that” x 20. The staff were patient and knowledgeable and they made my experience amazing!!

The decor was funky and stylish Rooms are well equipped and thought through with safes, tv, bath and shower, long dressing table, large comfortable beds with mossie nets and plenty of sockets. Veranda for each room overlooking the pool Pool was big and nicely landscaped The food menu offered a good varied choice, and the food itself was really tasty Nothing was too much trouble for the staff There is a viewing platform near the river to listen or watch the wildlife, especially monkeys We booked our safari through the hotel. Our guide was very knowledgeable and patient. He spied wildlife that other guides drove straight passed. The hotel drove our hot lunch into the reserve to meet our safari vehicle

Offering river views, this fan-cooled tent has a private entrance, seating area and extra large bed with spring mattress. It includes a hot water shower, towel and shoe racks. This place is magical. It is an experience where you stay in tents, but you have everything you need, even the hairdryer. The view on the Jungle is amazing se even saw bih group od monkeys jumping on the roof tent and that was amazing experience. The nature around is so beautiful, beyond Words. When we came we were greeted with wet towels and amazing juice. The breakfast is buffet and is amazing. The restaurant on site has amazing food. Everybody is so friendly. The place is good starting point for Udawalawe national park and they organise everything for the safari, which was amazing. We saw elephants, crocodiles, buffallos and few beautiful birds including peacocks. In the evening we were relaxing in the pool and saw hundreds of bats flying in dusk. What an amazing sight. I highly recommend this property.

Athgira River Camp is located at the door step of Udawalawe National Park with views of Rakwana River. It’s very close to Udawalawe reservoir and to the Elephant Orphanage. The property is gorgeous and very natural. There are no eye-sores, everything is very blended with nature. The two swimming pools were really lovely and the restaurant buffet dinners were delicious. The best part was the general manager who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. He engaged with our kids and made sure they stayed busy with basketball, volleyball, arranged a village walk across the river, and made special arrangements on our safari to celebrate my son's birthday. He was like a traditional hotel general manager who treats everybody like his personal guest. It's a really special place and definitely a great base for visiting both Udawalawe and Yala parks.

This unique tent is set on the border of the National Park and comes with a private bathroom. The place was really awesome. We had a great time with family.

Featuring carpet flooring, tents come with an outdoor living area and a private bathroom with hot-water showers. Includes a torch, umbrellas and a luggage rack. This ecolodge was enjoyable for my children, husband and myself. The tents were roomy and had flushing toilets and warm showers. The dinners were elegant on white tablecloth under the stars. The safari guide and driver did an excellent job pointing out elephant herds, birds and crocodiles at this park. I recommend this lodge.
