We had a great night stay here, had quite a few encounters with the wildlife but felt completely safe and taken care of throughout.

Guests will have a special experience as this tent features a fireplace. Offering free toiletries and bathrobes, this tent includes a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, a bath and a hairdryer. It truly is a 5 star glamming experience in every way! You can opt for self catering and the provision for that is outstanding - or do what we did, used the restaurant on site. They will also bring the restaurant to your tent and you just order from the menu! Every evening there was a full turn down service so that your tent was warm and cosy and heating, including electric blankets supplied. Our stay was in August so chilly at night. Our tent was in front of the river and every evening we lit a fire and gazed at the stunning night sky. An absolutely clear sky and we could switch off the main light switch to facilitate this. Though remote we had excellent wifi facilities. The staff were superb hosts and made sure every expectation of our stay was met and more. When we received our joining instructions and realised our little car would struggle with the road to Mbizane, a member of staff gave us secure parking at her home and took us to the site with all our luggage. We really appreciated this as the road is challenging. However, with the option to get a lift on a 4x4 vehicle this was no longer a problem.

The staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. As there are only a few tents, they get to know your name and preferences and it feels like a home away from home. The accommodation is super clean, comfortable and exactly what you need for your visit. The common area had a wonderful pool and bar, where you can watch the wildlife pass by as you relax and unwind. The game drives start early in the morning, and it can be cold, but you are provided with warm fleece blankets as well as ponchos for when it rains. Both our guides (Pieter and Capps ) are very knowledgeable and good fun - they really look after us and engaged in conversation while on drives sharing their passion for the area. The coffee and drink stops were a highlight as well. We cannot rate this place highly enough and hope to return sometime in the future, l Thank you to everyone at Umkumbe for making this such a memorable experience and making us feel like more than just guests. Everything was beyond my expectation and made my trip magical. The staff and drivers are great, they are very friendly and warm and make you feel like at home. The location is awesome. They are a private reserve, but there is no fence, so animals from other reserve can roam here, and you might get a chance to see them. Also, they can go off-road which makes the games so much more interesting. We saw everything except the leopard. The pool at the main area is a huge attraction. The elephants regularly visited the pool to drink water when we were staying, and we got a chance to see them very close. The tents are very comfortable with heating mattress (helpful for colder nights).

Situated in Manyeleti Game Reserve, Buffelshoek Tented Camp offers a garden and barbecue. Sabi Sand Game Reserve is 34 km away. Free private parking is available on site. The location in the middle of nature surrounded by wild animals. An elephant came eating from the tree right next to our tent. At night we could hear the hyenas howling. The game drives were fantastic! Elvis gave it all to show us the beautiful animals of South Africa. We saw not only the big five, but many more! During our game drives we saw elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalos, lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, hippos, rhinos, leopards, crocodiles, impalas and many more beautiful creatures. The food and catering was outstanding. We were taken care of so well from the kitchen crew. It was amazing! Also the tent itself was super clean and comfortable.

Beautiful space filled with different ornaments which all told a story. Wildlife frequent and varied around the property - all in a non-threatening way! - and a beautiful garden to enjoy sundowners in! Excellent rooms and braai area as well!
