Guests at Jizokan Matsuya Ryokan stay in rooms with shoji paper screens and traditional futon bedding. All rooms are air-conditioned and include a TV and slippers. Best location we stayed at in a 2 week holiday in Japan. The other hotels we used were all conventional ones and we wanted to stay in at least on Ryokan and chose this one. The location is perfect, really close to Zenkoji Temple which is the most historic area in Nagano, with lots of really nice shops to explore. The room was perfect and we really enjoyed the traditional Japanese breakfast

This property offers access to a balcony, free private parking and free WiFi. The property is non-smoking and is located 24 km from Mount Fuji. Large, 2-storey western style house. It was a bit of a trek for us to get to the property but the view was worth it. We only stayed for one night and decided to send our bags to our next hotel in Tokyo prior to arriving (would recommend this if you don't have a car). We arrived at Mishima station and caught a highway bus which took another 90 minutes to reach Lake Kawaguchiko. Check in process was easy. The house was great. There were bikes which we used to travel to the nearest combini. Highly recommend hiring e-bikes from the local businesses to explore the area.

The location is perfect for a relaxing weekend, really scenic and beautiful sea views. 
The open-air bath is the main appeal for us, followed closely by the food (dinner is a must if you stay here, definitely book as it's a highlight). The staff (shoutout to Uehara-san) are also super warm and helpful. We’ll definitely be returning again.
