Best location we stayed at in a 2 week holiday in Japan. The other hotels we used were all conventional ones and we wanted to stay in at least on Ryokan and chose this one. The location is perfect, really close to Zenkoji Temple which is the most historic area in Nagano, with lots of really nice shops to explore. The room was perfect and we really enjoyed the traditional Japanese breakfast

Aovely way to break up the trip from Tokyo to Kamikochi if you have a car and it is worth a visit just for the sake of being there.

JR Karuizawa Station is a 15-minute drive away. After five weeks in Japan having breakfast cross country I can say that this was the best breakfast we had. Home cooked and presented with pride for the products they use. The owners are the sweetest people we have met during our trip. Would recommend to stay here with exclamation marks (!).

Oshi Ryokan is located in Nagano, 20 km from Zenkoji Temple, 22 km from Nagano Station, as well as 32 km from Suzaka City Zoo. This ryokan provides free private parking, luggage storage space and free WiFi. The ryokan features family rooms. Mr. Oshi's ryokan is very conveniently located across the street to the first of the 3 shrine visits and right around the corner from the bus stop. There's also a great little coffee shop directly across the street called Kira Coffee, recommended! Every time we stay at Oshi ryokan, the service is exactly as pleasant as we remember. Delicious breakfast/dinner, very friendly staff, clean rooms, cozy bedding, this place is great. Mr. Oshi is also very knowledgeable about all things to do with the shrines, being a minister himself. I hope to continue visiting Oshi ryokan in the coming months and years. Thank you!

The check in procedure was very nice and homey. The facilities are very good as well, especially the outdoor onsen that you can book for a private slot. The room was very spacious. The kaiseki dinner was also amazing! All in all, a very nice ryokan in a good location for seeing the snow monkeys.

Offering a free-use reservable hot-spring bath, shared indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths, and traditional multi-course dinners with Shinshu beef, Shibu Hotel is 8 minutes from Yudanaka Train Station on the free shuttle. The traditional rooms have Japanese-style futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. I really liked the athmosphere of it. It felt like traditional Japan. We had half board that allowed us to try japanese food beyond what we would dare to order in a restaurant. The staff was exceptional!
