The Maison d'hotes Le Pre Gourmand is a very special beautiful place. We stumbled upon this little gem by accident as our train to Marseilles was cancelled at Avignon station, so we had to find a room for the night. Our anxiety from a very stressful day of travel soon melted away when we arrived at this beautiful, peaceful place. Our host Christine was so lovely and very kindly helped us arrange a taxi collection for the next morning to resume our journey to Marseilles. We had dinner at the restaurant which was absolutely divine. It was a gourmet experience worth every cent. Each dish was a work of art. Magnifique! A lovely breakfast the next morning was served on our terrace. I would highly recommend staying here for anyone wanting to explore and discover the Avignon region by car or if you want to flop and drop for a couple of days without a car. There is also a lovely pool which we unfortunately didn't get to enjoy as we arrived late and left early.

We loved out short stay with Mattieu and Caroline. They were the most welcoming and helpful hosts we have had on our trip so far. Our room was comfortable and equipped with everything we needed and more. It was tastefully decorated, incredibly clean, and beautifully presented. We only stayed one night in Avignon as a stop on the way to Paris, but we wished we had stayed longer. Such a charming and unique village with lots of history, great shops, and a wide range of restaurants—we were so pleasantly surprised! The apartment was in a great location too. We highly recommend staying at La Maison Grivolas and be sure to take them up on their offer for breakfast, it was memorable.
