Everything. Leo is such a nice and kind host. The place is very clean and calm during the day and at night near two beautiful shrines and the main streets with shops and restaurants. Leo could give you best advices to explore around. His English is really good so it’s very convenient if you don’t speak Japanese or just a little bit. As it is a old house, the soundproofing is poor but if you have respectful neighbours guests everything will be fine. Thanks a lot Leo for this beautiful stay and your help!

This is such a great place! If you want to experience authentic Japanese family living, I highly recommend staying here. The host family is absolutely lovely. Even though we didn’t speak the same language, you could really feel their warmth and hospitality.

The location is simply stunning, the guesthouse sits peacefully on the seafront of tranquil Mukaishima Island, surrounded by lush vegetation and easily accessible by car. It's the perfect destination if you're cycling along the Shimanami Kaido. Youko is an incredible host, warm, welcoming, and exceptionally helpful. She provided excellent recommendations for bike rentals, local restaurants, and activities, and every day left thoughtful notes at reception highlighting events happening in the area. When we accidentally left our backpack (with passports inside!) at the guesthouse, she promptly mailed it to our next destination without hesitation. Our 8-year-old daughter, Alice, loved the play area in the communal dining space, bouncing on the trampoline in the garden, and meeting the resident animals: friendly sheep, two charming cats, and Maroon, the adorable dog. The property itself is spotless. We stayed in one of the Japanese-style rooms, which felt spacious by Japanese standards, and offered spectacular views over the bay. The rooftop terrace was another highlight for us. We'd wholeheartedly recommend staying here, it’s truly a special place.

One of the most beautiful guesthouses I've stayed at in all Japan. The view from the cafe/bar and the rooms is incredible. It's an old building that has obviously been restored with a lot of love and care. And the guys running it are really kind and helpful people.

The dinner and breakfast were absolutely amazing and high quality, made with love. In the USA, it would cost more than the total price of this stay at Sayomi's house. The house is a peaceful location up a hill with incredible views and solitude. It's perfectly clean and the bath facilities are high tech and modern, while the home itself has a warm, traditional and home-like feel. Sayomi is incredibly kind and generous. The food is unbelievable. She doesn't speak much English but will still try and communicate in a friendly way, and you can have a good conversation with translator apps. There's also a massage chair and the bath is great for after a long bike ride. Staying here fueled me to finish the difficult bike ride and it is one of my highest recommendations in Japan.

The host could not have been friendlier, showed us around the house gave us tips on where to go and where to eat. The property was spotless and the location is a dream. The host has excellent English which makes everything so much easier. I wholeheartedly recommend this location for a holiday. We will certainly be going back if we are in the region again.

The hosts are super friendly. I was the only guest for the night and had the whole dormitory all to myself. Perfect for staying if you want to cycle the Shimanami Kaido! Common area and dorm were clean, bed was really comfy and warm, the breakfast was delicious! Highly recommend.

Great place to stay if you wamt to bile the Shimanami Kaido. It is aprox. 20 minutes from the bike rental at the station, but you can use it as a little warm up.
