Staying at Peacock Guesthouse was an experience on its own! It is a piece of a medieval fairytale brought into the modern world. Not only you feel the history everywhere, but also the artistry of Bhaktapur craftsmen: the wood-carved windows overlooking the oldest square of the town and the temple, the wooden artifacts in the cute courtyard, the craftsman himself working next to the restaurant…. Nice, clean rooms. Shared kitchen is great also as they aren't too common in Nepal I feel. The atmosphere with it being private rooms in a shared communal space is great, friendly and communal so you chat with other guests but you have more privacy and is generally a bit more relaxed than in a hostel. Shekhar is a great host who will show you local food and culture also! Highlights - rooftop fire night and watching the world cup match + what might be the coldest beer I've ever had!

Excellent meals were available at very good prices, including breakfast, lunch and dinner. The accommodation was above the city - out of the smog and in a quiet location. Other guests were friendly and interesting.

We will never forget our stay in the ROKPA guesthouse, the garden is a quite place to relax and the Boudhanat stupa is nearby and also some Buddhist monastries. We enjoyed the very friendly staffmembers and the good dinners at the restaurant.
