A very comfortable, moder apartment. Very good contact with the owner, who takes good care of the comfort of his guests. Excellent location, a nice walk to the very centre of Coimbra. An electric heater helps to keep the rooms warm. It's also very quiet so we slept well. And both the bed and the sofa were very comfortable

The hosts, Ana and Joanna were exceptional. Every morning they personally prepared breakfast and I was invited into the historic 1850's kitchen to dine. My room had a view of the river, and a large private bath. I was a five minute walk from the University, where I met my tour of the Joanina Library and the Cathedral. A stroll down the street (instead of up the street) and I was in the local square just inside the Almedina gate. There were numerous places to have wine, dinner or tapas. The college students were returning to Coimbra and it was fun to watch the "drinking scavenger hunt" that they were participating in, while I sipped wine. After a sweaty day-trip to Conimbriga, I returned to Alto Canto to pick up my luggage. Joanna let me shower in another room (I had already checked out) before I took off for Lisbon. This is a wonderful place to stay. I was in the smaller room, but I was able to see the larger room which was magnificent with a huge living room and paneled walls. Definitely worth the money!
