Every room includes a balcony with lake views. Everything was excellent! Best thing about this hotel are the views. Once you open the door of your room, you’re greeted by an impressive view of Lake Toba. It appears to be a new hotel, so the room and furnishings were new and clean. Location was fantastic as well. The hotel is right next to the water, so the ferry from Parapat can drop you off right at the hotel pier and pick you up from the same place. There are great restaurants nearby. I strongly recommend Coffee 2 Go across the street for breakfast and coffee, and Rosalie’s Beer Garden and Restaurant a 5-min walk away for lunch and dinner. Staff is friendly and helpful, though not all of them speak English.

This Homestay is about 5 minutes walk from the ferry port. I had a pretty heavy suitcase with me and there was no way I could carry it on the uneven road and steep uphill. The owner, Marin, came with her scooter and picked up the suitcase right away. Upon the check-out was the same. Marin and Johanna were always available and very friendly. The view from our room was facing the lake and the beautifully maintained garden.

We stayed for a total of 9 nights in Romlan; in two different rooms. Where to start with the things we liked? First of all, the staff of Romlan is very friendly and helpful. They even helped us with calling and getting to the local pharmacy to get some medicines for sickness (one of us got ill and they called the pharmacy that was closed due to the Sunday Service and they opened up the pharmacy for us). The food and drinks of their own restaurant were amazing and very tasty & variable; good price value as well! The location of Romlan is also good: the boat drops you off at their pier and all the things in Tuk Tuk are on walking distance. The views from the rooms and restaurant are amazing. If you want to hire a scooter bike you can without signing for anything and you don't have to fuel up the tank (when you get the bike, the tank is full). A free refill water station is available and also some tips & tricks about the surroundings of Romlan and the transport options from Lake Toba to other places like Berastagi or Medan. Definitely recommended to book your stay at Romlan when you are looking for a place to stay in Tuk Tuk.
