Our host was very kind and thoughtful, ensuring that our stay was comfortable and that we had everything that we needed. Our room was spatious and had plenty room to hang our clothes after doing the laundry. The location was convenient with the bus stop right across the street and delicious meals in the neighborhood.

As i have said in my google review, i think this is the best homestay you can find in Yakushima. This is my second time staying with Taguchi and Hitomi san and as the 1st time, they are so nice and accommodating. They gave great suggestions ** i walked and climbed some difficult trails and it took me a total of 14hrs in2 days ** my legs ohh...hahha...and they also offered to pick you or send you to the port for your trip. They did their outmost best to make you feel at home which I said it did make me feel very welcome ^^ Clean and cosy...the room is big and the house is well designed.

An amazing place to stay for a vacation in Yakushima. The location is spectacular with a sea view, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The owners of the hotel are charming and help with everything we need, they helped us perfectly in preparing the visit to the island. Highly recommend to anyone traveling to Yakushima to stay at Pension Luana house

We spent great moments here. Inside the house, it is pretty warm. There are coffee beans and everything ready for us to make a hand drip coffee. I can’t wait to make one cup. The coffee taste so good and smooth, maybe this is selected beans. I connected the Bluetooth speaker and playing Mayumi Itsuwa’s songs. Music harmonized with the lovely chalet interior, the atmosphere is so relaxing and immersive. Kihara-san is very nice. The Shinyu Onsen he recommended is gorgeous. The hot spring water is wonderful. It is milky-white, so natural and so great. I guess it come from a sulphur spring. In the daytime, we hiked around Onamiike and Ebino Plateau. The crater lake is amazing and there are great views along the trails. At night, we do BBQ in front of the chalet. We rent a Charcoal Konro Grill set, it is really convenient. We bought some Japanese Wagyu beef for yakiniku from supermarket near Kirishima. The beef is yummy, really delicious.

Their accommodation all crafted from local wood, is immaculately clean. Our room was very comfortable. There was a lovely dining room which we sat and worked in before dinner. We stayed in early April and it was pleasantly cool so we didn’t have to use the air conditioning. We were fortunate enough to sample a selection of three different offerings for dinner each evening. This is where the essence of Yuki’s and Toru’s hospitality and generosity was evident. The meals were of exceptional quality, prepared with care, be it the cooked elements by Yuki or the fish caught by Tori. Don’t miss out - treat yourselves and take your evening meals there. During our evening chats with Yuki we learnt more about their commitment to nature, organic farming and love for Yakushima. After making our booking, Yuki guided us seamlessly through the somewhat complicated processes of getting to and from the island by booking our ferry crossings and by reserving our car rental. The accommodation is strategically well positioned for the start of the hike to Jomon Sugi (early start essential) and others, several scenic waterfalls, the Hirauchi Kaichi and Yudomari Onsens on the sea (less than 5 minutes away), as well as the splendidly scenic and interesting UNESCO World Heritage Listed Coastal Road where you can see monkeys and deer in abundance in their natural habitat - the beautiful reality of the landscape of Miyazaki’s “Princess Mononoke.”

The hostel is in a great location and is quirky in a very good way. The best part was of course Satomi-san who goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and explain the activities of the island to you. The bed was very comfortable and the curtains do an excellent job at blocking out light at night. The hostel firmly falls into the rustic category and is very open, there is little privacy, but it has everything you need and more. If you are a neat freak, allergic to clutter or are after a some luxury, this isn’t the place for you.
