Guesthouse Soi was an extremely comfortable and well located place for our visit to Kyoto. Our room was clean and spacious, the provided breakfast was a simple but tasty start to the day, with the upgraded Japanese breakfast being one of the best meals we’ve had during our stay here. Maki and Sim were so friendly and helpful, and I constantly witnessed them helping people throughout our stay. This saved us when we left our bag in a bus and they were immediately able to contact the bus company and the restaurant we were in prior to confirm where they were - something that would have been extremely hard without a local phone number and fluent Japanese. Guesthouse Soi will be our first choice if we return to Kyoto.

There’s also a bus stop just steps away, making it incredibly convenient to get around the city. The hotel itself feels very new, and our room was super spacious for Japanese standards. Everything was spotless, which is always my top priority. We arrived about an hour and a half before check-in, and the staff kindly let us know our room was already ready. They allowed us to check in early at no extra charge, which made a huge difference for us. We really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely return! :)

She went above and beyond and is absolutely delightful. Great value for money as well. The room was pleasant with enough space, and the futons and pillows were soft. The location is right next to Kiyomizudera with Gion and several other temples in walking distance. I have nothing negative to say about this booking

The owner/ manager has everything in the apartment you need. A huge shower room! A piano of you play!

A hot tub and a bicycle rental service are available for guests. The accommodation provides a shared kitchen, full-day security and currency exchange for guests. Everything was amazing! The distance from the train was small and downhill. The host was phenomenal, she made us breakfast and each day was a different region. She also had amazing recommendations on where to tour. I want to come back to Kyoto again just so I can stay there longer!

It was such a special experience, it felt authentic and personal. We loved the incredible breakfasts, and the notes with tea and snacks when we returned at the end of the day. It was so warm and cosy, and so lovely to be able to look at a pretty garden in the middle of a busy city. The location was great too - there is so much within walking distance.

One of the best hostels we’ve ever stayed at. Clean quiet and beautiful. Close the bus stations

Mrs Haruda and her husband are the kindest people ever!! We were 2 adults and 2 children the house has everything we needed, super clean, close to all the the tourist places we wanted to go. It’s 2 minutes walking from a big supermarket. Mrs Haruka is adorable, helped us with everything, we felt like if we were visiting our family, she took her time to explain to us where were the best tourist attractions and how to use the train and underground, her house is just 3 minutes walking from it. I can just say THANK YOU SO MUCH for their hospitality!! Next time we go to Kyoto we will definitely stay there again!! ARIGATO GOZAIMAS!! UEMA’s family

The hosts were very friendly and helpful and kind to our children; they made the stay feel like a family visit. We loved the big room with comfy beds and a tatami breakfast area. We also liked the onsen-style private bathroom. The breakfast was delicious and different every day. The location was in a small quiet street close to the bus- and train station, and for the people with more stamina even within walking distance of the old town and central shopping areas.
