Uji is a wonderful town and a good base to explore Osaka, Nara, Kyoto, and Uji itself. This hostel is conveniently located close to the train station. The hostess at the front desk was very helpful and explained everything at check-in. Excellent communal facilities with washer, dryer, nice showers with great water pressure, tea, fridges, basic kitchen, and free draft beer! If you are on a budget, they have very nice private rooms or dormitory style rooms that are well equipped.
Budget hotel with a spacious room, good for driving trip with a big car park
Well equipped, quiet, conveniently located, budget friendly. Responsive and helpful host.
Location was good. Room is large compared to other chain hotels. Comfortable bed. Shame that I only stayed for one night. I would come again.
Once we've arrived to Kyoto, we realised the attractions are pretty scattered around the map, so we weren't particularly close to anything, but the main station was just 1-2 metro stops away, which was important for us. We stayed in other Sotetsu Fresa hotels in Japan and I think this one was on the nicer side (for a budget option). With the buffet style breakfast it was good value.
Helpful and caring front-desk reception, lots of amenities; on par with Japanese hotel chains.
Excellent location near Kyoto rail station and lots of shops. APA is a national chain with a model of budget self service with lots of amenities provided but with relatively little room staff (e.g. bags full of new towels etc delivered to your door daily but not brought in - though a full clean is done every fourth day). So 4 star amenities in 2 star room. Hence the good value. Front desk staff very helpful and friendly.
My room on the 6th floor was large, luminous, comfy and had great views of the city. This business hotel is a little older and the bathroom less perfect than in most of the chain hotels, but there is nothing to complain about really. Lighting could be better but the reading lights by the beds are perfect. Windows open. Less than 100 meters from the JR station. Spacious lobby.
Very friendly and welcoming staff, room was spacious compared to my stay at Sotetsu fresa inn Kanda Tokyo. Breakfast also had more options compared to Tokyo. Umbrellas supplied at lobby for rainy weather. Again good amenities, microwave, washing machine, ice machines and vending machines. Also option to rent free extra appliances if needed. I highly recommend this hotel chain as a mid-budget option for those solo travelers. Location was also good, 4 min from Shijo subway station and two stops to Kyoto main station
