The minute I entered the house, I felt so welcome. The family made me feel at ease straight away. It was so nice being able to chat with them to get to know more about their lives, which was what I was looking for. They are so attentive and will send you lots of info not only about the great authentic tours they can organise but also recommended places to see around and restaurants. I did the sunrise kayak and that was such a wonderful experience. I decided it quite late and the ferry was leaving 5 minutes later, no problem! A quick call to make the ferry wait and in less than 10 minutes and a very short moto ride away and I was inside and someone from the ferry was there to tell me where to stop. I took the ferry back around 19:00 and the person who did the kayak messaged the hosts to let them know I took the ferry. I felt so well looked after. The place itself is very nice, large room and bathroom and the best is the terrace overlooking the canal where you can see life goes by. The homestay is on the village side with gorgeous rice fields. They encouraged me to walk around and that was great. The breakfast was also delicious. If you want to have an authentic stay, don't hesitate, this lovely family will take care of you.

At the homestay, each unit includes bed linen and towels. Location is great, walking distance to everything like tourist spots, beach, shopping, resturants but quiet plcace in Fortnagar. Big room with shared spcaces, cold water,coffee, tea provided in common area. The owner is very helpful and friendly, quick response when we ask anythings in the massage box or whatsapp. She arranged our airport transfer, cap for city transfer cities and booked train tickets for us,

Staff is very welcoming and helpful, they even booked a train ticket for me. Breakfast was amazing, with mainly Indian/Kerala dishes. Lots of activities for kids, nice (small) swimming pool and a tower with a lovely view. The whole property with the garden is very well maintained

Munroeisland Backwaters Homestay, a property with a shared lounge, is situated in Munroe Island, 44 km from Varkala Cliff, 45 km from Sivagiri Mutt, as well as 46 km from Janardhanaswamy Temple. Free WiFi is available throughout the property and Kollam Railway Station is 24 km away. Would recommend this Homestay and munroe island to everyone visiting Kerala! Vijeesh made our time super fun even though we only stayed one night. Do not miss the sunset kayak trip and the sunrise boat trip, such a highlight of our Kerala trip. Munroe island is beautiful.

Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. After the initial hustle and chaos of India, staying at Mountainview Homestay is a welcome place to unwind. Asfal and his friends are friendly and easy to talk to, and they give great tips on what to see and do in the area. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed. Waking up to a view of the green trees, with a cup of good coffee is pure bliss. It’s incredibly peaceful, with the occasional playful troop of monkeys on the roof to break the silence, peeking curiously at you as they play. In short, the perfect spot to recharge before diving back into colorful, bustling India. P.S. Asfal also helped us with the next leg of our trip. He arranged a taxi driver to take us to the Alleppey, and along the way shared lots about the history of Kerala and India, tea plantations, and Hinduism. We made several stops and got to try local sweets – highly recommended!
