Most importantly, the host and his wife are the loveliest people - he would arrange to pick you up at the station and every night would check what your plans are for the next day and send you to wherever you are planning to go. I was going to walk out to look for dinner myself one night and he came out to give me tips on where to go, and warned me that the place I wanted to go to might be fully reserved. Every night when I get back to the accommodation he’ll come out to greet me and ask where I’ve been and whether I’ve had fun. So much warmth staying here! ☺️

A lovely Guest House with very kind and welcoming hosts. The rooms are lovely Japanese rooms with tatami mats and futon mattresses, which I found very comfortable. The shared men's and women's toilets are close to the rooms and very clean. The shared kitchen and dining, lounge are is great too, allowing you the option to cook your own meals and catch up with others. There is a men's and women's public (shared) bath area. A lovely hot bath to relax in after the day. It is small, and while I was there I was the only one in it each time I used it, but could seem a little cosy if there were a few people using it at the same time. There is a private bathroom and shower too. The japanese breakfast and the evening resturant meal with their hand made soba is incredible. Absolutely loved staying there a day would definitely stay there next time e I'm in hakuba. Location is a 3 minute walk from the shuttle bus terminal in happo.

Hakuba Skala Inn has both Western rooms and Japanese rooms, which have traditional futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. All rooms are heated. Hakuba Skala Inn was fantastic. The family that run it put in so much care to ensure your stay is amazing. Rooms are great, fresh breakfast was delicious, all around awesome experience.

There’s also a bus station right down the street that takes you to Iwatake (which you can then transfer to another bus that takes you to every resort.) The best part were the owners — they were so kind and welcoming even though we did not speak Japanese. They cooked us breakfast and dinner and both were so delicious. We highly recommend and would definitely stay again! Thank you so much for the wonderful stay😁

The location is perfect, it is a 1 minute walk away from a shuttle stop with free shuttles to Happo-One, Iwatake, Goryu, and 47. It is a 10-15 minute walk to central Echoland and restaurants. The hosts are great people. They are very kind and helpful. We were able to communicate easily through messaging and Google translate, and they were very responsive. They even offered to take us grocery shopping, got us seats at a good restaurant, and took us to the ski resort one morning. Their dog is cute too. They will make you feel welcome during your stay. We loved our stay and can't wait to come back!
