Try to get one of the rooms upstairs as you have a better view of the monkeys and squirrels climbing the palm trees. Not only are the hosts friendly and welcoming, they are excellent sources of travel advice and really make your travel planning easy. Bicycles are available and this is an excellent way to see the sites nearby. And the food!!! The breakfasts are absolutely scrumptious with huge helpings - you won't need lunch. The photo shows the view from the breakfast area, where you can chat with other travellers if you wish. The room is comfortable and clean. Unlimited drinking water available day and night. Lake House isn't about having enough power points (there aren't) or having a wardrobe or similar for your stuff (there isn't). It's about unbelievable value, in all senses of the word.

The caretaker was very polite and cooked is incredible dinner. If you want to do the Safari, this place is perfect. We booked a Safari with getyourguide but you can also book directly with them.

The room was spacious and clean. Each room has its own terrace, and there’s also plenty of seating in the beautiful garden. Every morning, we had breakfast in the treehouse overlooking the lake. Gamini and his wife are such lovely hosts. He picked us up from the train station, organized a safari and an Ayurveda treatment for us, and took us on a tour to see Sigiriya/Pidurangala Rock and the temples in Dambulla. His wife prepared delicious dinners and breakfasts for us. They always made sure we had everything we needed and made us feel very welcome. The Wi-Fi was also good.

They even arranged a massage and a delicious homemade dinner for us, which we enjoyed under the stars. The food was absolutely delicious – fresh, authentic Sri Lankan cuisine made with love. Every detail was taken care of, and we felt more like guests in a family home than in a hotel. We can’t thank our hosts enough for such a beautiful experience. If you’re visiting Habarana and Hurulu eco park, don’t miss the chance to stay here – it’s a hidden gem filled with warmth, kindness, and unforgettable memories.

We were truly grateful for the exceptional assistance provided by the property owner. His efforts in arranging our Wilpattu Safari and city tour guide made our stay even more memorable. The staff also left a lasting impression with their exceptional service. From assisting with our luggage to warmly welcoming us with a choice of coffee or tea, their constant smiles added to the warmth of our experience. The breakfast was not to be missed - every aspect was meticulously prepared, resulting in a delicious and fulfilling meal. We extend our heartfelt thanks for making us feel truly at home, even when we were far away from our own.

I’ve stayed at Oleena Homestay before and loved it, so I’m back again. I like the serenity of the place set among trees and plants and bird songs. And the hosts, Jeewa and Masha are wonderful people with their lovely daughter Oleena. The breakfast were sumptuous and they are able to arrange savoury lunch and dinner 😋. Masha is a great cook. 😍 The garden rooms come with your own private balcony. One may have the food at the balcony or at the nice airy dining hut. Jeewa was able to arrange trips around the area. Excellent hospitality. 😊
