The hostess, Lily, and her family were very welcoming and thoughtful. They taught me a lot about their culture and tradition which were fascinating. One of the highlights of my stay was the opportunity to participate in some Hmong activities such as making handicrafts and learning traditional dance. I also had the chance to teach English to some of the local children who were so cute and eager to learn. It was heartwarming to see how much they appreciated the opportunity to practice their English with a native speaker. As someone from England, I couldn't help but compare the Hmong culture to my own. While there are some similarities, such as the importance of family and community, the Hmong culture felt much more connected to nature and their traditions. The pace of life was also much slower and more relaxed, which was a welcome change from my busy city life. Staying at Hmong Sister House was one of the most memorable experiences of my trip to Vietnam. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic cultural experience and a chance to connect with the beautiful nature of Sapa.

I loved this homestay — super clean, quiet, with all the amenities available, a great choice of breakfast, and helpful staff. Not that it was needed but the AC has a heating option, and hot water and warm blanket won't let you freeze. And the view! It was a pleasure to stay there.

Guests can make use of the outdoor fireplace or the picnic area, or enjoy views of the mountain and garden. we fell in love with sapa thanks to the staff at de mong! we visited from the US and stayed at de mong for 3 nights. we came in late november in the off season so it felt quite private and relaxed - the rice was all harvested but the mountains were beautiful and picturesque nonetheless. they fed us extremely well and took care of everything for us. every dish was delicious and fresh - we felt like we were in hyori’s homestay the entire time. we loved the herbal leaves trekking tour and bath that they arranged for us! a must do if you are a nature lover. the coffee and tea drinks are incredible. the design is tasteful and elevated. i think this homestay is well worth it. keep in mind it’s located in a somewhat rural village - i wouldn’t expect every amenity, but we were more than satisfied with everything de mong had to offer. it’s healing just to sit on the porch and zone out while staring at the beautiful scenery. plus happy the dog and pam the cat are always there if you need a cuteness boost. - the herbal leaves trekking tour and bath is a must! may and her mom san may are so knowledgeable about the local plants and surroundings. we learned so much from them and cherished our time with may! - if you are able to drive a scooter, we would highly recommend renting one. we were able to freely roam back and forth from sapa center to the villages and it’s much more efficient than calling a taxi thank thank you de mong staff! we had the best time and we will see you again 💌

We loved the room, the setting and the hospitality. Huong was very comfortable with Google Translate and was happy to accommodate us in any way. The place was spotless, the heater worked well and there was ample hot water for showers. The view over the valley was lovely. The setting would be even more delightful in warmer weather when the beautiful decks could be put to good use. It is a 20-25 minute walk into town (Sunday market).
