Very lovely hostel with an amazing terrace overlooking the castle and the valley. Very comfy room, where each bed has a curtain for more privacy. Also it had a balcony with a great view of the castle as well. Clean bathroom and shower. Friendly owner. Perfect location just 5 minutes from the center. Super recommended!

we spent a few days in Albania and it was definitely the best accommodation. Mateo and his family are wonderful people. The breakfast was delicious, the location was quite good, quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend this accommodation, the rooms were clean, it was quiet and peaceful. we will come back for sure. Before arriving, it is worth contacting and stopping the car before the hill.

VAL-MAR Guesthouse is located just in the center of Girocastro town-market. It is the biggest advantage - in the late night or in the early morning you can breath the air of the ancient town. Silver rock roof tiles , wallstones and black and white cobblestones pavements are worth to see, to walk on and even to touch... Parking place you will find like we did. Don't worry, the owner will help you. Great thanks to Rejan, mega clever boy, son of the owner, who assist us in all deals and solve all the questions we had. Hi, guy! You are the superman! The guys at Lazy Roo Hostel are absolutely fantastic! I truly wish I could have stayed longer, but I’ll definitely be coming back soon. The place has such a social atmosphere and they organize great events where I made so many new friends. Can’t wait to return!

Amazing hostel experience! The rooms were cozy and well-designed, with comfortable beds and handy storage space for all my belongings. The outdoor area was a true highlight – vibrant, green, and perfect for relaxing or socializing. Everything was spotless, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the moment I arrived. A fantastic place to stay that instantly feels like home and near the center.

I've spent only one night in the Hostel, but it was the best hostel I have ever chose. Fantastic and helpfull owners, clean rooms, kitchen with everything that you need, possibility to do the laundry and very important for me - rules. I believe that because of these rules the place is really good (no party, quiet hours etc.).

The owners are very nice people. The rooms are clean and the whole structure well maintained. The most important for us was the private parking. If you travel on motorcycle, stop searching and choose Villa Mehmeti!

The stay at Hostel The Old Gate was amazing! The moment I arrived, the host (Taulant) greeted me with so much kindness and made me feel instantly at home. My room was spotless and cozy, with a balcony that opened to the most breathtaking mountain views, I could have sat there for hours. Breakfast was simple and delicious with homemade honey made by the owner, the perfect energy boost before wandering through the streets of Gjirokastër’s Old Bazaar as well as the Ali Pasha Bridge (aquaduct), both sites are located not far from the hostel. I loved relaxing on the terrace in the evening, surrounded by the peaceful garden, the host offered some homemade rakia and gave some nice suggestions for visiting in Gjirokaster and other places in southern Albania. Everything about this place felt authentic and welcoming. Without a doubt, I’d come back here again, it’s one of those rare places that makes traveling feel special.
