Easily accessible location. 5 min walk to Queen Victoria Market. (Private) room was clean and equipped with towels and toiletries. Seemed to have a lot of facilities that I didn’t check out (lounge with pool table, rooftop, etc.). They had a cook out on the roof top the night I came but I sadly did not join. They have daily activities such a trivia nights, etc.! P/S luggages can be stored for $3 on day of check in, and $10 on day of check out. Towels can be bought for $8 and hair dryers can be borrowed from the reception (just leave your ID)

Absolutely loved my stay here! The place is clean, cozy, and in a great location — everything is well maintained and has a really welcoming vibe. A special shoutout to Bella at the front desk — she was incredibly kind, helpful, and always had a smile on her face. She really made the whole experience feel personal and warm. Highly recommended. I’ll definitely be back!

I have experienced other hostels here in Melbourne, but this is my favorite, the building looks vintage but it is really beautiful, it has a nice bar and activities everyday so it helps if you want to meet new people. The beds are one of the best things here, because they are really comfortable, I always sleep well here! The staff is really nice and they clean everyday, you can ask for change your sheets and clean your room if you want it, thanks to the manager Migue as well for being really nice.

The location is amazing, within easy walking distance of RMIT and close to trams to anywhere in Melbourne! This is possibly the cleanest 'backpackers' I've stayed in. Room was clean, shared bathroom too! White linens, fresh white towel included. Really a comfortable stay after 30 hours of travel over three flights! Fresh apples and bananas at reception were a nice touch! Staff were super friendly, my bags were lost by the airline and they were so helpful in making sure everyting happened as best it could!

Our room was amazing! We had so much space (no bunk beds), a nice view and a working AC. The highlight was our own bathroom. It was clean and comfy. Everyday we had a social activity and it was easier to meet new people. Next to the reception was a guy who gave us information about booking tours and possible things to do in and around Melbourne.

Europa is an EXCELLENT hostel, very well maintained areas and very very efficient staff, solving with ease classic hostels challenges. Let's make it simple: it's a paradise for backpackers who like city vibes, with comfy beds, individual bathrooms, wide rooftop, bbq with good veggie-vegan options, game room, large choice breakfast with pancakes (!), ... and once again thank you to the staff who does amazing work : ) However... maybe because it's all a game of offer and demand... but the prices when i was there were quite high and room were very quickly full-booked: the first week (that i booked way in advance) was very ok price for 16 beds dorm but, when i wanted to extend, the same room was 27$ more expensive per night... not 5 or 10 more... no no... 27$ more per night... even for someone having a job in Melbourne, it might be tough on their budget. Some guests then tend to book several weeks in a row to secure the price of their stay... when other guests will have to often switch to a more expensive room because cheaper ones are very quickly full-booked. I can understand that it's maybe more complicated than "offer and demand", it's probably the way Australian big cities are, maybe gvt is allowing too much working visas at same time and it creates huge "concurrency" at regular period of year. Hostels are probably doing their best to run their business and still offer affordable access to young workers. My stay at Europa was still EXCELLENT and i recommend to go there. Plan a good budget or confirm in advance a good working plan. Then you should have a great stay in one of the most effervescent city on the planet : )

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
