There is something very special at Casa Terra. From the moment you walk in you can tell the hostel is about the people, from how the owners share their whole selves in adding art and creating spaces for community, to how they are constantly interested and know about their guests and connecting them to the Samara community. The passion of the owners is palpable. The owners are all deeply experienced in hostels; the rooms and bathrooms were spotless, and the people and vibes are immaculate. It is far away from town to feel secluded and make incredible connections in a peaceful environment (people do not feel a need to be on their phones) while still a short walk (10 mins) to enjoy Samara. The sunsets shared as a hostel are wonderful and drive an immediate sense of community too. For those who want peace and community, this is your place. Very chill, friendly place. Great hostel to meet new people. Nobody seems to want to leave. Literally..many guests kept extending their stay day by day. Including myself :)

The owner/general manager, Kiban, and his entire staff were helpful, sensitive and attentive to my needs and an absolute pleasure to deal with. The kitchen areas were very clean and well-stocked with appliances and cooking utensils.and the entire facility was comfortable, safe and very well-maintained. The price and the facilities are probably the best value-for-dollar places to stay in Samara. Highly recommended, particularly for backpackers on the earlier side of life.

This was a lovely place to finish my trip in Costa Rica. The garden is beautiful. The beach is a 2 minute walk away. Walking to town via the beach takes about 20 minutes. Otherwise, you will need to drive. Thomas, the host is lovely and kind. I visited with the other guests and had wonderful conversations. There were a few kitties around, and that made me very happy. Sweet little guys. Thank you, Thomas, for being a wonderful host. I hope I can visit again.

Wow what an awesome place! Pablo and Malvi are super lovely and helpful, and are busy creating a beautiful space for travellers. We stayed in the new tent platform out back - it was peaceful, cool and comfy, we slept great. Kitchen facilities are good, the hostel is clean and airy with different spaces to relax and loads of stunning murals to enjoy. The location is ideal, it's an easy walk into town/beach and had nice sodas and shops very nearby. Quiet back street that felt safe and has off-road parking right outside. Highly recommend!
