The futon was very comfortable and the space was overall very quiet. All the shared facilities were clean and well-maintained. The location is fantastic, as the local endoji has several charming restaurants, cafes, and other local businesses. I highly recommend seeing a kabuki play at the theater next door, as it is fun, modern, good value for money, welcoming to tourists, and you don't need to speak Japanese to understand it. There's also a FamilyMart down the street for convenience and you're near two different metro lines to get anywhere you want to go.

Fantastic base for a stay in the area. It's near everything you may need - convenience stores, Nagoya central station and its restaurants and mall - and Nagoya itself is well situated for day trips by train to Kyoto, Osaka, Lake Biwa, Hamamatsu, parts of Kiso... Plus, the atmosphere at the guest house is great. On Fridays and weekends, the bar on the ground floor is open, they serve meals and it's possible to converse with locals.

Attractively located in the centre of Nagoya, Sakae Guesthouse features air-conditioned rooms, a terrace and a bar.

The propety is owned by a friendly old couple. When I arrived I was greeted with a warm welcome and a sweet small talk. On the checkout day, it was raining and I didn't have an umbrella. They kindly gave me a free umbrella to go home, real nice of them.
