I really enjoyed staying here. The staff are so happy, friendly and accomodating. It’s in a safe location, right off the street full of restaurants and bars, and has a spacious and cosy common area with a fully equipped kitchen. I would stay again.

I stayed 7 days at the Melville House and felt like its a hostel that really understands community and sharing. Staff was great, talkative and helpful. Other guests staying there were mingling and cool. I met local students looking for long term accomodation, long term travellers stopping by in Johannesburg and I myself was on workation - which was great in my private room that had an amazing comfortable bed and i had my own bathroom. The shared spaces were a place to meet the others and the surrounding is relatively save for Joburg standards so that I could even go for walks and jogg in the morning. Loved it!

This is without any doubt a five star hostel with a beautiful garden and a big swimming pool in a nice neighborhood with easy public transport to Joburg central . It is quite a dream , I can not say anything else. I am so happy here that I am staying for another 15 days . Thank you so much . This a perfect place .

Definitely the best place to go in Joburg. Soweto is a nice area where people look after you and share with you their stories. The Lebo's arrange very interesting cycling tours. The staff is very kind and helpful, the food is great and healthy. I highly recommend that place.

A very nice and welcoming family made us feel at home at once. We felt safe walking around in the neighbourhood and met a lot of friendly sowetans. Lunghi, the owner of the house, has lived his whole life here and he is a very interesting and authentic guide with strong opinions about the development since apartheid.
