Well worth the effort to travel to experience a lovely ryokan, it's host and the town. I paid for dinner and I'm SO glad I did. It was a highlight of my stay and in deed a highlight of my 5 week trip in Japan. You sit in a sunken seating area and watch the ryokan owner/cook prepare what felt like a large number of individual dishes. The food was absolutely delicious. I was concerned about hearing other guests because, being an older house, the walls are thin - but the night I was there all the guests were respectfully quiet. I had a view over the "river" which may be a mis-nomer - but it is a peaceful stream running through the pretty street. I highly recommend a visit.

If you are looking for rest, this is the perfect place. In his hostel, Jiro San offers decent places, games rooms, a very well-equipped kitchen, as well as a sauna hand made by the owner. You can even share a meal with your host if you offer ☺️

Το Youth Hostel WANIHAMA-Beach side Lake BIWA προσφέρει παραθαλάσσια καταλύματα σε Ότσου, σε απόσταση 15 χλμ από Sanzen-in Temple. Προσφέρει διάφορες ανέσεις, όπως κήπο και μπαρ. We got a room with its own toilet and bathroom for a great price. Traditional tatami style room makes it feel very humble and homely. The staff was very friendly and accommodating - they drove us to the station very early in the morning.

Το GUEST HOUSE NAGORIYA βρίσκεται σε Hikone, σε απόσταση 1,7 χλμ από το σημείο ενδιαφέροντος Κάστρο Hikone και παρέχει καταλύματα με μπαρ και δωρεάν ιδιωτικό χώρο στάθμευσης. I cannot recommend this guest house enough! The owner is so kind, helpful and speaks decent English. The location is too far for walking but if you take the number 22 bus from stand 1 outside the station, you can shorten the walk to 5 minutes. Very comfortable bed, good AC, plenty of space for luggage and relaxing. Useful kitchen, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, cutlery, mugs, plates etc. It's in a quiet area. The lake is a short walk away. Hikone Castle isn't far either. The one toilet and shower on the first floor did not bother me. I loved this guest house!

Vibes of the accomodation were fantastic, fellow guests were very chatty and there was lots of games to play. We used the provided bicycles to ride to a restaurant one night, bikes are in great condition. Got a chance to meet the owner, he is very nice
