Hostel Tomato 番茄溫泉青旅 is gelegen in Jiaoxi, op 2 minuten lopen van Treinstation Jiaoxi, en biedt kamers met airconditioning. Right in front of train station. A lot of cozy common spaces to relax at. The common area on the ground floor has a lot of spaces / comfortable seating areas for resting/eating. There are also lockers (medium-sized)(with combi lock) for you to deposit items before checkin / after checkout (only till 5pm). Beds are comfortable. Entire building is decorated nicely - a warm and welcoming vibe. Breakfast spread was good (breakfast 8.30am to 10am). Entry to building is by code during non-working hours or when staff are not available. You need to have the line app and contact them before you reach (specific instructions given after you book). On the day of check-in, they will then send you the door code through the line app.

In contrast, I recommend this place for a short stay.

This is truly a hidden gem. We were biking around Taiwan and were actually considering to stop earlier that day in a different place but thanks to some extra energy we managed to get an extra 20km in and end up here which was the best thing that could have happened. One can clearly tell that a lot of effort, attention to detail and love went into this place. Checkin was as easy as it gets despite us arriving at a time when no-one from the staff was there, because it was a very slow afternoon in the off-season. Easy instructions via the booking app did everything we needed. We could even park our bikes inside in the entrance area of the small attached cafe. Our room was very modern, spotlessly clean and decorated very well. We were actually the only guests that night and despite that the owner offered to cock us anything from the menu or simply have the same as she and a friend of hers had. We chose the latter and had one of the best meals of our entire stay. In the morning the breakfast was also incredibly tasty and prepared us very well for a last and extremely rainy ride to Taipeh.

On the outskirts of the town, right in front of a lovely park, and surrounded by rice fields. The afternoon staff were very friendly and helpful. They also rent great bikes for free!
