I had easy 7 to 8 hours of sleep straight! I slept so good 10am is the check-out I woke up 10:30am my final day (i'm sorry! I rushed to check-out as soon as I realized) Location is amazing! Subway A, C, B, D any trains could take you anywhere in Manhattan to Brooklyn. I came to New York for a concert in Brooklyn and was at the venue within 30 minutes! Facilities is great too! Kitchen is sufficient, washroom always clean everyone is so respectful of your space. staff is super helpful too. i'm surprised they dont have a higher rating. One of the best hostels i've stayed at!

Each dormitory-style room at this Brooklyn hostel offers modern furnishing. Every room includes a private or shared bathroom. My room was very spacious with high ceiling, and bright and clean bathroom. Nice to have a regular bed instead of a bunk one, and it was really comfortable. Some of the staff members were nice some not, but Andrew who showed me to my room was very helpful and friendly, and made sure that I have everything I need. Free coffee is such a great thing and the lounge was so cosy (so many books there!). Perfect location too, with plenty of shops, restaurants and pubs around and close to a few subway stations so it takes no time to get to Manhattan.

HI NYC Hostel is a 2-minute walk from the 103rd Street Subway Station, a 12-minute walk from Riverside Park, and an 18-minute train ride to Times Square. I really enjoyed my stay in the hostel! Great location just by the metro (line 1), with a great supermarket (Gristedes) and a great bagel place (Broadway Bagels) nearby. I was travelling solo and for more than one day I arrived when it was already dark (one day I even needed to leave one subway station before because of line maintenance) and I felt safe to walk by myself (female) in the area, there was still a lot of people around despite being around 10pm. The restrooms are not my favorite setup (I prefer when you have several “normal” restrooms instead of a huge room with rows of showers etc), but I get this is much more space efficient for a place with its dimensions. The restrooms were always clean, no complains about that. I loved the blackout/privacy curtains, and the locker was big enough to store a medium size suitcase plus one backpack. I asked in advance for a bottom bunk, and they were happy to accommodate that, and I was also able to check in one hour ahead of the time scheduled. The common areas are great, the patio is out of this world and the kitchen is huge and very well equipped. There is also a café inside that opens by 6am with a lot of options (not the cheapest, but it was great to have it inside the property). There was a small light in the room by the floor, which I thought was a great touch so people who arrive when everyone is already sleeping could use a light without bothering everyone. I would definitely recommend and stay again.

Neighborhood is a little rougher than some other parts of Manhattan, but I never felt unsafe. Hostel was impeccably clean and the housekeeping staff were excellent. One even helped me get my suitcase down the stairs on checkout day!
