We are Barbara and Mario Sonnleitner – passionate hosts and the founders of Ebner 1822. Our three handcrafted holiday homes made of wood, straw, and clay are more than just a place to stay – they embody a way of life: simple, natural, and refined. After many years in the Viennese gastronomy and hospitality scene – from traditional wine taverns to renowned health resorts – we decided in 2022 to bring a heartfelt project to life: a retreat in the Carinthian mountains where sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a lived commitment. We helped build these houses ourselves – using regional timber, certified organic straw for insulation, and a great deal of craftsmanship. Every detail – from the classic wood-burning stove and natural kitchen to the Hydrosoft cabin under the roof – was chosen with care and purpose. The natural swimming pond just outside the terrace invites you to cool off in summer or enjoy quiet reflection in winter. What matters most to us? Personal hospitality, honest materials, and a stay that inspires and slows you down. Guests are also welcome in our Dorfschenke – a small culinary haven where Barbara cooks with ingredients from our garden and regional organic farms.
