19 Blue has been described by so many of our guests as "A home away from home". It's not for people wanting super modern, all - white decor with stainless steel up to your eyebrows!! 19 Blue is homely, comfy and welcoming! We endeavour to provide all those little things you might need like scissors and band aids! Guests love our generous breakfast ingredients and the loaf of homemade bread that greets you when you arrive. Set in a lovely garden, 15 minutes from Hobart City with beaches and walks just minutes away. What more could you want? PLUS 19 Blue is so conveniently located for all southern Tasmanian destinations: Bruny Island, D'Entrecasteaux Channel, the Huon Valley. Even Port Arthur and the East Coast plus the lovely wool towns of the Southern Midlands and Highlands are all within a few hour's drive. Come and relax at 19 Blue it's waiting for YOU!
We are originally, English born, professional actors who used to run Live History - aiming to make Hobart's history come alive using drama!! Judith is a keen gardener (reflected in the lovely garden in which 19 Blue is set) and Chris loves cryptic crosswords and vehement debating on just about any topic under the sun!! We retired after the pandemic hit and spend our time gardening, looking after grandchildren and making soap and face creams. We love still being involved in tourism and meeting new people. Our aim is to provide the kind of place that we like to stay in ourselves.
Blackmans Bay is unashamedly a suburb of Hobart but such a beautiful one! 19 Blue has views over the D'Entrecasteaux Channel. The lovely beach at Blackmans Bay is just 8 minutes walk away. There are good restaurants and cafes along the beach front. There is a lovely cliff top walk along to nearby Kingston Beach which has cafes, a wine bar, a Health Centre and some unique shops. You must not miss a visit to Boho the most groovy cafe, clothing and homewares shop - it's our favourite! Just a minute's drive away from 19 Blue, guests can find Bayview Market which has just about everything you need: pharmacy, doctor's surgery, hairdresser, high class grocer, bakery, and sushi bar Many guests simply relax at 19 Blue and don't go anywhere beyond the immediate vicinity - Tasmania has such a laid back lifestyle!
