This home was architecturally designed in 2009. The intention was to create an inner city retreat. The main living space has a built in fish pond and double atrium roof and succeeds in bringing light and other natural elements inside. The upper level is the sleeping zone. Each of the three large bedrooms has a built in bedbox for extra sleeping or for your luggage. The master has an ensuite. Bedroom three has a leadlight feature wall as it's backdrop. Both of the upstairs bathrooms are accessed via space saving sliding polycarbonate screens. There are two separate living areas on two levels. Entry level houses a secure single garage, a laundry and bathroom number three. The backyard features a 4m x 9m green zone beside a saltwater swimming pool. This space is adjacent to an outdoor entertaining area and kitchenette.

When I designed and built my home I was doing part time teaching at The University of Queensland and The Queensland University of Technology. The location was perfect. All of my four children have lived at The Fairfield Palace and we have many happy memories of living here.

Fairfield is a suburb that is within 6 km of the Brisbane CBD and is surrounded by Parks and sporting grounds. The University of Queensland is a 20 minute walk over the Green Bridge. Queensland University of Technology is 5 km away with walking access over the Goodwill Bridge. The South Brisbane Cultural Precinct - Southbank, GOMA and QPAC - is 4 kms. The Fairfield train station if 400mm and there is a bus stop across the road. The Pat Rafter Tennis Centre is 3 kms and the Brisbane Golf Club is 3.6kms away. Both the Princess Alexandra and Mater Hospitals are within walking distance. The Gabba Cricket ground is close by as well. The newly completed South Brisbane State School is at the top of Fairfield Road where it intersects with Annerley road. Using the Clem Jones tunnel means that a trip to the airport takes 15 minutes (depending on traffic).
