We're a family from Queensland who fell in love with Hobart and wanted somewhere to stay that was close enough to everything so we didn't need to hire a car. We love the cool weather, beautiful landscape and incredible food Tasmania has to offer. But more than that we love the building itself. It's truly special to us!
Property information
The Grand Old Duke has an incredible story and an important place in the history of Hobart. Built in the 1850's it was the area's second pub and served many of the area's workers for years before eventually becoming a boarding house. Tourists and locals have been staying at the Grand Old Duke for over 160 years!
Neighbourhood information
We love Battery Point - it's so close to the best of Hobart. Within 50 metres you can dine somewhere different everyday for a week. Expand that to 500 metres and you could eat somewhere new for months! Our favourite thing is to have breakfast or baked delights at the famous Jackman & McRoss up the street.
