We must say straight up that we are not a 'party house' and that is why we require some communication before approving a booking. It is very important that groups that may not respect the 'no party policy' are vetted properly. The house is located in a mostly rural farming area on the western escarpment of the Kanimbla Valley famous for being part of the widest valley system in the world. It sits high on its own cliff and takes in a very pretty part of the valley with a combination of both rural and forested areas, particularly impressive at sunrise and sunset. The house is set up to be able to withstand the rigours of family visits and is kept simple so people do not have to worry the whole time during their visit. It is also priced quite competitively for the same reason. The neighbours can be seen from the house but the distance is substantial enough to ensure privacy for guests. It is within easy reach of Lithgow a town with all the facilities a group may need for a weekend away. Locally are the famous tourist locations in the upper mountains but also many very impressive places to visit out in this part of the region that most visitors to the Blue Mountains never know exist.
We moved into the district in 2007 and have been operating the house since 2011. We try very hard to ensure that the house is used by the right sort of groups and we do not allow our neighbours to be disturbed. We delight in families and friends sharing each others company in a respectful manner and that is why we have remained in business for well over a decade. We have many groups that return regularly because they have formed great memories while visiting and they wish to extend them. We monitor the property to ensure our commitment to the neighbours is fulfilled and have to attend to the pool every evening as anyone who owns a pool would understand. We can be unobtrusive if that is what guest desire or chatty with lots of advice when people ask for it. It is great to hear how people have enjoyed activities and places that we have suggested.
There are many local attractions in the district that most people do not get see when they stay up around Katoomba. Jenolan Caves (when it is reopened), Abercrombie Caves a little further out, the Glow Worm Tunnel, Wolgan Canyon, Hassans Lookout (highest in the mountains), Zig Zag railway, Mt Bindo (highest peak in the Central Tablelands), the 7 lookouts in Blackheath, local horse riding stables, Lake Lyell for swimming, boating and fishing, world famous Mayfield Gardens, Cox's original convict road down the mountains. There is a very scenic walk up the local road for several kilometres that takes in the amazing valley views across to the Blue Mountains western escarpment.
