Wendy and Alison Hunter renovated this beautiful 1800's home with their father back in 1997. This resulted into the quaint and well-appointed B&B that Maddies is today. Their love and dedication continued with this property resulting in the addition of meandering gardens, water features and an out door rotunda that is designed for exclusive weddings and functions. Maddies is a delightful home built in the late 1800's , which is set among lovely gardens and water features. It is the longest operating B&B in the Maitland area. Just 2 hrs north of Sydney it is centrally located to experience all the Hunter Valley has to offer. Bolwarra is situated in scenic farmland between historic Maitland and Morpeth. Close to wineries , local wedding venues, Barrington tops National park , Port Stephens and Newcastle. This unique setting provides an ideal location for a relaxed getaway , private function or intimate wedding. Maddies provides accommodation for up to 15 adults and offers the convenience of private facilities. All five bedrooms have their own bathrooms - two with a deep claw-footed bath. The inclusion of mosquito nets, period furniture and fine linen all add to that old world feel. Three rooms at Maddies are Pet friendly. Historical Morpeth- just a 10 minute drive from Maddies. Morpeth has many specialty shops including Alpaca wool barn, clothing, antiques, eateries, just to name a few. Morpeth also has a large park , museum and wharf. Maitland is an historic town built along the Hunter River. The CBD is 5 minute drive from Maddies. The recently renovated Maitland CBD, 'Levee' offers a variety offering entertainment, shopping and dining options. Cycle paths and walkways follow the river. MRAG Art gallery is always worth a visit, Both Maitland and East Maitland library offer activities for Children. In East Maitland you can visit the historic Maitland Gaol (including tours). Maitland park has and aquatic centre with indoor and outdoor swimming pools and extensive children's park. Tocal and Paterson-22 minute drive from Maddies. Tocal and Paterson are surrounded by farmlands and situated 1.4 hrs from Barrington tops. With much to offer from- Tocal homestead farm tours, Tocal field days, Paterson Golf club, John Tucker park, Paterson rail motor Museum, walks and fishing. You will find many local pubs and old world general stores along the way. With local Horse riding, beach quad bike tours, and the Hunter river so close by, you will be amazed at how much there is to offer in this scenic part of NSW.
