We have lived and worked on four continents and traveled extensively, finally settling in Australia. We found Maleny purely by chance and fell in love with everything it has to offer and love that we are able to share this special part of the world with others.

Kookaburra Cottage is a purpose built, 2-bedroom 2-bathroom house, nestled among the rain forest trees on a 5-acre property on a hillside overlooking a small lake. Relax and unwind on the large deck and soak up the sounds of nature in this peaceful and tranquil bush setting. The property is close to town, the golf course and Baroon Pocket Dam. Kookaburra Cottage provides a modern, clean and quiet living space in a garden setting. The front door opens into the open plan kitchen-dining-lounge area. The full kitchen has all necessary appliances, with ample cupboard and stone benchtop space. The back wall of the living area is made up of a full width window and sliding door that opens up on to the large deck overlooking the lake. Both bedrooms have sliding door access to the deck and overlook the lake, the rain forest and macadamia trees and both have their own ensuite bathroom with large shower. Bedroom 1 has a Queen bed. Bedroom 2 has 1 x double and 1 x single bed. There is a wood burning stove in the living area and enough wood is provided for the cold winter nights during your stay. There are also reverse-cycle air-conditioners in the bedrooms. There is an abundance of bird and wildlife on the property, including a vast variety of birds (kookaburras, galahs, black & sulfur crested cockatoos, currawong, herons, white egrets, king parrots, lorikeets and cat birds, to name a few), and wallabies, echidnas, bandicoots, possums and our pasture-fed free-range bantam chickens. We provide a delicious breakfast basket filled with local and home-made produce. From freshly baked bread, croissants and pastries to eggs from our chickens and fresh local seasonal fruit to milk and yoghurt from Maleny's award-winning dairy and cheese factory. Pets are allowed and we charge a pet fee. As we are semi-rural and part of a wildlife corridor, the property is not fenced, and all dogs are to remain on lead at all times when on the grounds.

On Burgum Pond is 2km from Maple Street, Maleny, 1.5km to the golf club, 5km to Lake Baroon, 7km to Mary Cairncross and a short drive to all the local wedding venues. There is a local Sunday market in Maleny and the Eumundi (Wednesday & Saturday), Witta (3rd Saturday of every month), Montville (2nd Saturday of every month) and Mapleton (4th Saturday of every month) markets are also nearby. There are a number of award-winning local producers such as Maleny Dairies, Maleny & Kenilworth Cheese Factories, Maleny Coffee, Maleny Wagyu, Maleny Chocolate Factory, The Brouhaha Brewery, and Maleny & Kenilworth Bakeries.
