Arthur's Seat located in the Hinterland of the Mornington Peninsula (a little over an hour from Melbourne); a safe quite haven; close but at the same time, at the top of Arthurs Seat, you feel well away when you want to be, from the bay side towns such as Mornington, Dromana, McCrae, Blairgowrie, Rye, Sorrento and Portsea, which can be very busy during peak times; although not so during non holiday periods. We are in the heart of the compact fine dinning and wine touring region, from Main Ridge to RedHill; so you can get to them within 5-20min. The Pig & Whistle and Arthur's Hotel being the closest. Great cafes at Main Ridge (Johny Ripe 5min from us) or the Flinders Cafes (20min from us) Beaches are great at Flinders too. If you're into Golf, then there are plenty of the finest, all within 30min of Arthur's Seat. For families with children, bayside Safety beach is the closest from Arthur's Seat, just a short drive down the 3km mountain. The Arthur's Seat Chair lift (Gondola) is due to open for the 16/17 summer. Ride up/down the mountain, which looks out to Port Phillip Bay. The Adventure Maze at Arthur's Seat is a great attraction for families and the kids and adults can enjoy the tree surfing, tube slides and plenty of mazes to navigate and is a short walk as is the lovely Seawards Gardens. Other activities are horse riding; water sports, even dive with the dolphins or take the Sorrento ferry across Port Phillip Bay (40min) to the historic town of Queenscliff for a day out. Other beaches, including back (surf) beaches of Rye/Blairgowrie/St Andrews/Gunamatta/Sorrento are 20-30min. Even if you don't surf they are beautiful to stroll through. Peninsula Hot Springs in Rye is 20min from Arthur's Seat. Portsea Quarantine Station/The old fort is worth a look, you can take the tractor train tow, ride a bike or just walk and enjoy the scenery, where the bayside and ocean thin strip of land meets and the old fort resides. 40min drive from Arthur's Seat Cape Shank near Flinders has a great walk down to the light house. 25min drive from Arthur's Seat Herronswood Historic House, in McCrae just a short drive from Arthur's Seat.
