Property information
Tucked away in a beautiful garden sanctuary “The Art Retreat” is an intimate one bedroom hideaway for two, on a blue ribbon block a stone’s throw from the main street of Daylesford and all the delights it has to offer, but quiet and private as though deep in the country.
Nestled in an incredible garden behind the owner’s art studio, this little gem is thoughtfully decorated and provides an ever-changing vista through the seasons. You can enjoy the garden view from the four-poster bed with its luxurious pillow-top premium bedding, sample a local wine in your own private courtyard, or relish a frothy hot chocolate in front of the ethanol fire while you watch the native birds gambol about in the beautiful old trees. The owners of this lovely little hideaway live on site but will happily leave you to yourselves or say hello if you pass by.
The Art Retreat is equipped with a coffee pod machine, toaster, microwave, and lovely selection of artisan teas in the charming kitchenette. Nip up to the Sunday markets for local jams or the Wombat Gardens Café to grab some beautiful sourdough bread from Dairy Flat Farm, or find some local ales, ciders, wines or spirits at an award winning local vineyard or distillery to enjoy while you’re here. Only a few minutes’ walk from Cliffy’s, Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens, the Convent, and the culinary delights of the main street and Lake Daylesford, it’s the perfect little pad for exploring Daylesford on foot, and the off-street parking means you can leave your car behind with no misgivings.
The Art Retreat is just that – a retreat from the everyday. Nestle in like a pair of hibernating wombats or flit in and out like the honeyeaters you’ll see in the garden. Either way you’ll be rejuvenated by a stay here.
Neighbourhood information
The Daylesford-Hepburn Region is famous for its mineral waters and is known as the Spa Centre of Australia. Our beautiful scenery includes the famous Lake Daylesford, the Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens and the Wombat State Forest. There are historic buildings in the main street of Daylesford and the region’s history lies in the rush for gold. Lake Daylesford now covers land upon which gold was first discovered and offers lakeside picnic spots, cafes, walking tracks, fishing and pedal boating. The internationally known Lake House sits on its shores and there are public BBQ facilities and amenities adjacent to the main parking area.
Lake Jubilee is located south of Daylesford (about a 10-15 minute drive) and is ideal for fishing, boating and swimming. If you are looking for a waterfall, visit Sailor’s Falls, less than 30 minutes south from the Daylesford Town Centre. If you are into the outdoors, Daylesford sits at the junction of three walking trails that are part of the Great Dividing Trail – the Lerderderg Track, the Dry Diggings Track and the Wallaby Track. The Hepburn Regional Park is a little less challenging and contains mineral springs and relics of the bygone gold era.
