Wally's Edge 20acre Farm Stay, as the name suggests, is situated on the edge of Walhalla, just 15 minutes drive. Our farm property sits within the township of Rawson but borders state forest providing friendly neighbours on one side and wild deer, wombats and native birds on the other. You will have access to feed our deer, goats, sheep and chickens and even have fresh eggs for breakfast when they are laying. Go for a stroll down the property to the fern gully and enjoy all that our 20 acre retreat has to offer. The 3 bedroom house is newly renovated "Ozzie Style with a touch of glam". At the end of a long day touring the area, have a BBQ on our deck overlooking the farm, relax in our 7 person outdoor spa which is usable all year round, or just sit around the outdoor fire-pit telling yarns (fire conditions permitting). For those colder months, there is a slow combustion wood stove in the lounge and heaters in each room. For the Summer heat, there is a central split air conditioning system, and fans in all rooms. There is free Wifi and a 50" flat screen in the lounge room, board games and books to keep you occupied. Other activities in the area include hiking, 4WDing, kayaking on the Thompson River, Skiing Mt Baw Baw 37km away, gold panning, swimming, squash (local pool and courts only open over the summer). There are 3 generous sized bedrooms, 2 with queen size beds, and the bunk room with 1x single over single bunk and another single over double bunk. There is one toilet separate from the bathroom and shower. There is a laundry with washer and drier, clothes horse, iron and ironing board. The property is 170km from Melbourne CBD (2 hrs), 38km from Moe, 44km from Traralgon, 12km to Walhalla, 37km to Mt Baw Baw, 19km to Thompson Dam, 7km to Thompson River.

Helena and I (Nathan), fell in love with the area many years ago after spending numerous camping trips down in Walhalla. In 2020 we purchased our first short stay property in Walhalla and have run that successfully with consistent reviews of 9-10/10 and love interacting with happy guests. This is our first foray into owning a farm, and absolutely adore all our animals and the wild birds in the area. We renovated the house and garden with our blood sweat and occasional tears and hope you love it every bit as much as we do. Rawson, is a small town of 300 people, established for workers during the Thompson Dam construction which finished in 1983. It is perched just 15 minutes away from the historic tourist township of Walhalla. The town has a general store, open from 10am-5pm as well as the legendary Rawson Stockade (bar and restaurant) which serves the most fantastic country food in a great Aussie atmosphere. During the summer months the local pool is open where you can also have a game of squash or tennis. There is a skate park for the "youngens" located next to the general store, and "Crater Lake" nearby for a lovely serene walk around. Rawson is gateway to historic Walhalla, a gorgeous, friendly little township situated in a picturesque valley surrounded by lush forest. It is steeped in Victorian gold mining history and visitors are encouraged to tour the old gold mine and take the Goldfields Train Ride. The towns Post Office and Fire Brigade Museums are well worth a visit and the old cemetery rising above the town is well worth the short but steep walk. The night time ghost tour is an absolute must experience and tells of the towns difficult and sometimes disturbing past. Who knows whether you might see a real ghost or even a wandering deer at night. In the morning, don't forget to visit the quaint little shops, café and pub in town. If you are feeling a little energetic, the town offers lots of great walks including the beautiful Tramway Track overlooking the township, the Cricket Ground or the spooky Walahlla Cemetery. In winter, the property is only 35-45 minutes away from Mt Baw Baw
