There isn't one willow tree on the whole property, so why do we call it 'Willow Farm'? Family. History.
20 years ago, 'Mr. Willow' (Pete_ immigrated from the UK to start a new life here in Australia. He yearned for opportunity, for warm weather, the beach. So yes, he moved to Brisbane and not Warwick...initially.
Nearly 80 years ago, his Mum Margaret was raised on a dairy farm in the UK. That farm was called Willow Farm. Margarets only brother John worked on the farm for a while before pursuing his entrepreneurial spirit in many businesses including holiday cottages. Those cottages were named 'Willow Cottage'. The legacy lived on.
In recent years 'Willow Cottage' was sold and Uncle John and Aunty Sue downsized. Meanwhile Mr. & Mrs. Willow (Pete & Katrina) upsized! With the permission of the family, our new property was named 'Willow Farm'.
We look forward to carrying on the family name in some way. Clearly there will be no kids to carry it on in any other way! we hope you enjoy our journey and we look forward to sharing 'Willow Farm Homestead and Lodge' with you.
At Willow Lodge you can get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and suburbs. Relax in peaceful surroundings just a couple of hours from Brisbane or the Gold Coast in the Southern Downs at Junabee QLD.
Nicely nestled between Warwick and Killarney ensuring you have easy access to explore Warwick, Killarney, Stanthorpe and all the area has to offer. If you love the outdoors and are looking to soak it all up, then nearby waterfalls and bushwalks/hiking are a perfect escape. If history is more your style, then you can ride the Downs Explorer steam train, explore Pringle Cottage Museum or Glengallen Homestead and Heritage Centre.
