Huis van Hout (house of wood) is a cabin in the fruit region built with natural and healthy materials, and produces its own water and electricity. The panoramic view is simply stunning: apple orchards resemble the wine estates. Design furniture makes your stay luxurious and comfortable, for work or for fun. Our large garden is at your disposal. The chickens welcome you. You can also use the terrace and reserve our Weltevree hot tub (from 125 eur). Fire up the bath and meditate with a view of the Limburg fields! We aim at Belgian design with among others the beautiful colourful poufs of Casalis. Nature is never far away either: the plants filter our water, and the sun provides our electricity. The house always feels cosy and is well ventilated thanks to natural isolation materials and a high-tech ventilation system D. Ventilation and floor cooling/floor heating together create a pleasant indoor climate with rather dry air. The plantations around the house provide a fantastic panorama during your hot tub session. Our bedding and towels are made from natural materials (Yumeko). Downstairs you will find a fully equipped open kitchen (Smeg and Siemens). We want to protect our wooden floor, so we ask you to take off your shoes before entering. Pets are welcome only if you ask the hosts in advance (price: from 79 eur per stay). They cannot stay in bed or on the sofa.
Bart is the inspirer of Huis van Hout, is a self-made energy specialist and made a career as an interior journalist. About ten years ago, he moved from Antwerp to Limburg, Herk-de-stad, near the hospitable capital Hasselt, to find peace, nature and... love. Fact: It took Bart three months to choose the right design sofa for Huis van Hout. We like to welcome our guests personally, and to talk afterwards on the terrace or inside. That's also how we travel. Of course we respect your privacy and quiet. We hope to build a network of people with the same ideas about design & comfort and sustainable living. We are happy to share our knowledge about sustainable building and energy. Due to the design of the house, it is impossible for our guests to have 100% privacy, so please consider this when booking your stay. The villa is free standing in nature, but we live on the same terrain. And if you wish to make contact to us, we are more than happy to connect with our guests.
You will live in the heart of Haspengouw, Limburg, with fruit orchards everywhere you look. You're free to make your morning walks through the fields in the back of our garden, as long as you respect the work of the farmers who are our neighbours. Huis van Hout is right in between 2 big Natural Parks: Schulensmeer and Het Vinne. Also hipster city Genk and the beautiful museum and preservation Zoo 'Labiomista' is just 30 min. away. Closer to home, in Hasselt, you'll find nice hiking paths in De Wijers ('the ponds'). And even closer to our place, you can hike and bike around the river 'Kleine Gete' in Geetbets. All facilities within biking distance: a supermarket (Spar / Aldi / Carrefour / Delhaize), pharmacy, post office, shops and bars and restaurants. You can also find lots of fruit and vegetables at nearby farm shops. You need a bike to get around, it's the ideal means of transport here on the small roads in between the orchards. We are at nr 194 and 176 of the Limburg bike Network (Fietsknoop app). Feel free to rent one of ours or bring your own bike and park it in our warm basement garage. We advise you arrive by car.

Traveling with a pet? Ask Huis van Hout - design eco lodge with panoramic garden and hot tub in advance if your four-legged friend can come along. When booking you can use the Special Requests field. Pets pay a fixed fee per stay of €79. 1 animal per group. Due to the fragile interior and possible allergies of other visitors, it is strictly forbidden to leave pets on the sofa or in the bed. They must remain on the wooden floor. The conditions stipulate that the deposit will be retained in case of violation.

Hot tub fee: €125 per usage

Late check out: €55 till 2pm

Early check in: €55

Use of washing machine and dryer is €12.
