About four years ago we moved to San Francisco, but our hearts never really left the Belgian seaside. Enjoy the lively atmosphere, local shops, and plenty of cafés and restaurants around the square. - The Mercator – Visit this beautiful three-masted ship, one of Ostend’s most iconic landmarks. - The James Ensor House – Step into the world of Ostend’s most famous painter and explore his fascinating home and studio. - Dikke Mathille – translated the fat Mathille, a well-known statue and local meeting spot near the sea. Gaanderijen – Stroll through these historic galleries along the seafront, built to shelter beachgoers from wind and rain. A walk with ocean views! - The Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul – An impressive neo-Gothic church with stunning stained glass windows. - The Albert I Promenade – Take a walk along the promenade and enjoy the sea breeze, sculptures, and sunset views. Fort Napoleon – A fascinating piece of history across the harbor. You can reach it by ferry — kids love the short boat trip! - Maria Hendrikapark – One of our personal favorites! Take our bikes and enjoy a peaceful ride around the lakes and gardens or go for a picnic. - The Casino – Feeling lucky? Try your hand at the casino and enjoy a glamorous evening out.
