Jade City- World Famous! Jade City was founded in 1985 by Steve Simonovic and has been run by his family ever since. Jade City has become a destination - it is a place where you can come and have a small taste of what it would be like to be a jade miner. You can find your own special pieces of jade (raw or finished), watch the jade being cut; from the biggest of boulders to the smallest nuggets, see polishing and carving in action and meet some of the Jade City locals - all while staying in one of our rustic but homey accommodations.

Jade City is located in the Cassiar Mountain Range and from your cabin you will have a mountain view and be surrounded by jade boulders. The property has a few other rentals - you might make a new friend as well as a Jade Store where you can get all kinds of information; from info about jade and how it is mined and carved to information about the highway and other destinations.
There are two frontage roads that make for a short but sweet walk. One side has the current, newer Jade Store with the opportunity to check out the raw jade, jade saws etc. The other side features the original Jade Store- all visible from the road.
For a little longer walk- there is the old ball diamond on Trout-line creek (also great for fishing). The staff at the Jade Store will be more than happy to point out the access to this spot.
Evening drive? - check out Cassiar. Our neighbourhood is home to the "ghost town" Cassiar; while not really a ghost town, it is an old mining town that was home to approx. 5000 people. Cassiar was known for its high grade asbestos and cousin- jade. Cassiar is approx. 15km away from us and is a beautiful drive. You can't get into the old townsite but you will be able to see the massive tailings pile created from mining. Many great clips of Cassiar can be found on youtube!
Boya Lake - a must see on the highway and only a short 40km drive away. Boya Lake is a provincial park with a day use area and is said to be the "warmest" lake around!
