The Pensione Popolo is a small, budget conscious hotel located on the 3rd floor above the legendary Casa del Popolo cafe and bar. The rooms are clean and basic and feature work by local artists. The “Casa” as it is affectionately called is a cornerstone of the Montreal arts and music scene and is where bands such as Grimes and Godspeed! You Black Emperor got their start.Enjoy some delicious vegetarian food and a cappuccino during the day or in the summer have a pint with friends on our back garden patio. Most evenings have a dj on the cafe side and a live show on the venue side of the bar. There are monthly local art exhibits. Staying at the Pensione Popolo is a great way to tap into the vibrant arts scene of the Mile-End of Montreal on a budget.

We are located in the vibrant place where The Mile-End meets the Plateau. Our neighbourhood is filled with great restaurants, shops and art galleries. There are more artists per capita in the Mile End than any other postal code in Canada.
