SURI Refuges was born as a collaborative project with rural and local communities in Patagonia, to make wonderful and remote places more accessible.
Here, together with Camping Aquasol, we offer an experience that allows you to immerse yourself in nature and local culture in a new way, promoting sustainable tourism in Patagonia. We envisioned and designed the SURI project with the purpose of generating well-being for all stakeholders:
For explorers: By making incredible remote places more welcoming and accessible, we offer a completely new and different way to experience and explore the Patagonian wilderness (active and sustainable tourism).
For Nature: By integrating with it, with minimal impact on the land and low emissions from day one. Our construction solution, designed entirely in wood, captures and stores carbon from the atmosphere.
For the people of Patagonia: By fostering local development through a network of refuges located in their small natural and local paradises, we create an interconnected community under a collaborative and sustainable model.

Cochrane is the living heart of Patagonia. A corner where nature still breathes calmly and life is measured in steps, not clocks. Here, everything invites you to slow down, to let your curiosity guide you, and to feel the freedom of simplicity. The mountains embrace you, the wind tousles your hair, and the river—so clear it seems almost magical—reminds you of the importance of being present.
On the banks of the Cochrane River, one of the clearest on the planet, you can paddle, fly fish, or simply watch the water flow unhurriedly. Further on, Lake Cochrane awaits you amidst forests and snow-capped mountains, ideal for a kayak trip, an afternoon picnic, or a refreshing dip.
From the town, the roads lead directly to Patagonia National Park, a breathtaking landscape. Guanacos roam the pampas, condors soar through the sky, hidden lagoons, endless valleys… walking here is a way of giving thanks. Each trail tells a story of conservation and reconnecting with what's essential.
But Cochrane is also its people: pioneers, ranchers, artisans, and dreamers who keep Patagonian tradition alive. At the Regional Museum or the Visitor Center, you can learn their history; and if you're lucky, share a mate or an asado with a local who will show you how life is truly lived in the south.
On horseback, by bike, or on foot, the experiences multiply: days of fishing, country roads, starry nights, silences that you can feel. There are no crowds or signs of haste. Just open roads, fresh air, and that feeling of being exactly where you're meant to be.
In Cochrane, adventure doesn't shout, it whispers. It's the kind of trip that changes you without you even realizing it. What you discover outside—the landscape, the strength, the stillness—also awakens within. And when you leave, a part of you remains, rolling between the river and the mountains, waiting for you to return.
