The Makrinari Tis Pano Geitonias is a holiday house created in a historical sited building. All its features are restored to exact specifications honoring its historical significance. Makrinari means The Long Room. While the construction of the house is based on its former glory, all the comforts of home have been provided so that your stay will be a comfortable one.

I am part owner of a Construction company which specializes in restoring sited buildings. It has been a dream and a purpose to build in the village of my birth with sensitivity to history. This includes sited buildings into houses, tavern, Environmental Educational Center, supporting walls and the town center as well as a winery in a new building with the character of the old including the stonework and the arches. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and any safari of the village I participate in includes a treasure of information, usually accompanied by a song or a poem.

My neighborhood is incorporated in a traditional village which may appear sleepy but has a wealth of treasures to provide. Most of the houses are stone buildings and many are sited building thus have been restored true to history. The village offers a Natural Heritage. We have wonderful Nature Walks, including one that leads to Mouti, a mountain peak with a 360 degree view of mountains and sea and another special Nature walk that was created by Apostles Paul, Varnava and Marco when they were spreading the word of Christ. This walk leads to the unique Apostolic Olive Trees. Each one is a piece of art. We have UNESCO Awarded Monastery of Sindi and Kelefos, Venetian Bridge, Monastery of Salamiotissa and three churches, Agia Varvara, St George and Agia Paraskevi. The picnic area, Kyparisso, hosts three ancient Cypress trees which hosts our annual Ppalouze Festival end of September and the school field behind the Environmental Educational Center hosts the well organised and popular Easter games and annual Musical Festival in August. In Summer the outdoor theater hosts theatrical productions, musical evenings and cinema. The Youth Center provides entertainment to both young and old.
