Exile on Mainstreet is named after a Rolling Stones LP. They fled to France in 1973 where they made their best music in a beautiful place. My house is on a high point of a spur of the Teutoburg Forest. The street is part of the ancient Toddenweg (Marskramerweg) against the center of Bad Benheim. The beautiful view and the light give you a relaxed feeling.
After more than 40 years of teaching history and philosophy, I try to combine the useful with the pleasant. As a 'Storyteller of Bad Bentheim' I have written dozens of articles about history, music, literature, art etc. You can find these on my website under Bildung & Bratwurst, in Dutch and German. In addition, I am Night Watch and give guided tours in English in and around the castle and in the center. Primarily I do this to meet people. Communication is the foundation of peace and happiness!
Bad Bentheim was built around the castle of the Counts of Bentheim. The town with its centuries-old houses and alleys has many sights and attractive establishments. You can also use the Kurbad of Bentheim where you can enjoy the healing and soothing spring water. Ask me about the most beautiful places, the most delicious beers and the best restaurants! You can rent 2 E-bikes from me for 7.50 euros per day per bike.
